“Me neither.”
We break away and say our goodbyes before she heads out for the day. Friday can’t come soon enough.

I dab on some lip gloss and run my fingers through my hair as I look in my rearview mirror. “That should do it,” I murmur to myself. I assess my outfit one more time before stepping out of my car and head toward Liam’s shop. He wanted me to meet him here to show me the finished project vehicle he was working on.
It’s finally Friday. Which means we’re going to the IOP Drive-In theater. I’m so excited because I can’t remember the last timeI’ve been to a theater and of course I get to spend time with my man.My man. Wow. I can’t believe I just called him that. We’re not a couple yet.It does have a ring to it, though.
I walk in and look around for Liam. “Liam! I’m here!” I call out.
“I’ll be out in a second!” he yells from the back. He must be in his office.
To kill time, I walk around the truck and take a look at his handiwork.
A whistle makes me jump and I turn around to Liam walking toward me.
“Damn, you look gorgeous, babe,” he says and I blush.
I walk up to him and wrap my arms around his neck. “Thank you. You don’t look so bad yourself.” I back up with my hands on his shoulders and look down at his outfit, then back up at his face.
“Psh, not bad?” He smirks.
I shrug and we head to the truck. “It looks really good, Liam.”
He puffs his chest out with pride. “Thank you. This is my dream truck. I’ve wanted one ever since I got into cars. Hopefully, one day I can have one of my own.” He chuckles.
“Well, I have faith that you will.” I smile at him.
“Yeah. I hope so. You ready to go, sweetheart?”
I nod. “Yeah. I figured we could maybe sneak in some takeout from Lana’s? They have the best burgers.”
His smile widens. “Whatever you want, babe.”
We get to the drive-in and decide to watch the ’80s classicThe Lost Boys. As we park, Liam tunes to the station they gave us at the ticket window, and I start to pull our food out.
“I have a confession to make,” Liam says as he stuffs a fry in his mouth.
My heart plummets to my stomach as I finish chewing my bite of burger. “Oh?”
“Yeah, I’ve never been to a drive-in before. I’ve always wanted to go, though.” He shrugs.
I sigh in relief because I didn’t know what he was about to say. “That’s not surprising.” I take a big gulp of my Cola. He quirks a brow, then I continue to elaborate. “I didn’t mean it in a bad way. Drive-ins are a thing of the past. There are very few left, which is really sad.”
He nods and we continue to finish our food. The lights dim and the movie starts to play. I stuff our trash in the to-go bag and place it on the floor at my feet, then sit back.
“Come here.” Liam holds his arm out for me to scoot across and cuddle up next to him. He slowly rakes his fingers over my bare shoulder and I break out in goose bumps. I slap his hand away and he says, “What’s wrong?”
I sit up. “Don’t do that. We are here to watch a movie, not act like horny teenagers.”
He smirks. “Um, I was watching the movie. You must be the one acting like a horny teenager.”
I roll my eyes. “Just watch the movie.” I lay my head back on his shoulder. A few minutes later, he puts his hand on my thigh and strokes it softly with his thumb. I break out in goose bumps again. “Liammm.”
He chuckles. “I’m sorry. I can’t help it. Your skin is just so soft and rubbable.”
I laugh. “Rubbable? I don’t think that’s a word.”
