How do you feel about a date?

Quinn: We did that

Quinn: Okay when?

Sunday when you are done helping at the inn.

Quinn: All right, what are we going to do?

Low-key beach then to my place for lunch?

Quinn: Do we have to cook?

Is that a deal breaker for you?

Quinn: Absolutely.

Then no. We can get takeout. ??

Quinn: Perfect. I would hate to have to tell you I couldn’t make it.

*Gasp* ?? You would bail on me if we had to cook?

Quinn: I certainly would. Even though I work Sunday mornings, it’s technically my day off.

I’ll be damned if I’m going to cook on my day off.

Alrighty then, no cooking. ??

Quinn: Looking forward to it.

“This way,” I say over my shoulder to Liam as I walk toward the path that leads to the water.

After my morning duties at the bed-and-breakfast, Liam picked me up and I showed him how to get to Sullivan’s Island. It’s not even nine minutes down the road.

It’s tourist season, which means the beach at Isle of Palms is packed. So, I usually just take the quick drive a little fartherdown to Sullivan’s Island so that I’m not overly crowded on the beach.

We walk a little way down and find the perfect spot to lay the beach blanket. We set up the umbrella and help each other put sunscreen on. I definitely don’t want a repeat of last time.

I hook up my Bluetooth speaker to my phone. To set the mood, I pick my Jimmy Buffett playlist and lie back. “I hope this music is okay. I know it’s probably not what you listen to, but I like to set a vibe when I’m at the beach. Jimmy always puts me in a happy mood.” I tip my sunglasses and look over at him.

“Oh, so now I have competition?” he jokes.

“Ha. Ha.” I fake laugh.

“I think it’s kind of rude that you’re making me listen to my competition.”

I roll my eyes.

“You have your sunglasses on, but I can totally sense that you’re rolling your eyes.” He smirks.

Dammit. He already knows me so well. “I’m not rolling my eyes,” I lie.

“Mhmm. Sure.” He lies flat on his back.
