“Whew. Well, that’s good. Because I’m not above getting on my knees right now and begging.” He laughs and I let out a soft chuckle.

“Liam, I’m pregnant.”

He bolts up out of his seat. I think he’s about to make a run for it, when he leans over and puts his hands on his knees.

“Are you sure?”

I lift my brows. “Yeah, I’m one hundred percent sure.”

“How do you know?” He stands straight and puts both of his hands on the top of his head, looking down at me.

“I’ve taken about thirty different tests over the last couple of days. I tried to make a doctor’s appointment, but they won’t see me until I’m eight weeks along.”

He nods and turns away from me, facing the beach. I sit there for what feels like an eternity, then I get up and go stand by him.

“Liam, if—”

He whips his head toward me, then bends down and says, “Are you okay, little guy?”

I push his face away from my stomach and laugh. “He or she can’t hear you yet, you big dummy.”

He smiles. “Yeah, I knew that. Psh.”

“Right.” I sigh as he just stares at me. “Look, Liam. I understand that this is a shock. I’ve been dealing with this by myself for the last couple of days. So… it’s already sunk in, kinda. I didn’t want to become a mom so quickly, but apparently, birth control isn’t one hundred percent effective. I’ve come to terms with it. You might not want to be a parent right now, and that’s perfectly okay. I’ll figure it out on my own. But if you want to be in our lives or just in the baby’s life, that’s okay too.”

He scrunches his face up, then steps toward me and cups my cheek. “Listen, I know this is quick, babe, but I’m going to do whatever it takes to make sure we have the best life together. That is, if you want me? If not, I’ll be here for both of you regardless.”

“Of course I want you.” More tears start to fall.

“Good because like I said before, I would beg.”

We both laugh.

“Quinn, have you really made me a dad?”

I nod. “I’m pretty sure we did that together, but yes, babe, you are a dad.”

He cups both of my cheeks now. “Fuck, we’re both parents.” He pauses, then says, “So does this mean you are my woman now, baby momma?”

I slap his chest.

“Ouch.”

“Do not ever call me baby momma again.”

We both laugh.

“But is this you asking me if I want to be your girlfriend?”

He smiles. “Yeah, I am.”

“I mean, I guess since you knocked me up, I can be your girlfriend,” I tease.

He leans forward and lets out a loud laugh. “So you mean to tell me, if you weren’t carrying my baby right now, you’d say no?”

I roll my eyes. “No, I was already planning on this being a thing before I started puking my guts out.”

He cringes. “I wish you had told me sooner. I would’ve been there for you even more.”
