I stopped fighting the invasion and relaxed in its hold as past me turned the page to read the title. ‘Plunging Her Briny Depths: A Kraken Shifter Romance.’ Confusion marred the ancient parasite’s mind. I took it a step further and skipped to where the magic happened in chapter three. Past me giggled in her chair, fanning herself. The story’s protagonist, Mia, had just given into her new husband’s advances. Her legs spread wide atop his desk, Cassian’s gruff beard tickled her neck as he took in her scent. The tentacles coming out of his lower body tore off her dress and plunged mercilessly into her pussy.
Thing shrank back disgusted. The wave of memories ceased for a moment before it recovered and took hold of my mind once more. It said nothing and shifted its focus back to random flits of my life.
“Oh, what’s wrong?” I asked. “My reading choices don’t make you uncomfortable, do they?”
“Quiet, girl.” It growled. “I have no use for your perverse human mating rituals.”
Laughing, I steered my thoughts to Rejected Princess Book Three. Jolene had been captured by an enemy pack’s alpha. “I know just how to make you sing, Princess.” Leon whispered into her ear. His sinful mouth explored the curves of her body-
“STOP THAT.”
“Oh honey, I’m just getting started.” I let out a lewd groan of pleasure and reminisced about my werewolf fucking me within an inch of my life. Felix had me bent over my coffee table and trapped an arm behind my back. My pussy spread for the thick knot at the end of his cock like it was the last shred of physical touch my terminally alone ass was ever going to get.
The creature shuddered and shrank back into the dark water. “What is wrong with you?”
“Oh gods, where do I start?” I tilted my head as if in deep thought. “Hey, do you still want to know what I want? Cause I think I’ve got something in mind.”
“I’m terrified to ask.” It groaned.
“Have you ever heard of Omegaverse? If I become your vessel, maybe we can make that a real thing.” I clasped my hands together in excitement. “I’ll explain the basics to you.”
“I don’t want that.”
“No need to twist my arm about it, I’ll tell ya.” I chirped, waving the creature off.
“There is a deeply forbidding aura in this water, and it is not coming from me.”
Ignoring it, I launched into my explanation. “Alright, so the basics of Omegaverse are alphas, omegas, knotting and, in most cases, mpreg. That’s male pregnancy for the uninitiated. Now, omegas go into heat every year once they reach maturity and release an irresistible pheromone that basically drives the alphas into a mating frenzy. That’s where the knot comes in.” I paused for breath and peeked at the ancient evil. Several of its eyes began twitching in what I could only assume was distress. Doubling down, I began making squelching noises to simulate a particularly wet sex scene I’d read before.
When I grabbed one of its tendrils to send a mental image of an Omegaverse chapter that had illustrations of the couple in question and an oversized riding crop, Thing finally broke. “I can’t!” It wailed. “I can’t do this.”
The world shifted. Water faded away into the pulsing green of the magic trunks and I was back in reality.
“Brie, what the hell are you doing?” Alexis roared. The sword was mere inches from piercing the trunk, her blade vibrated with anticipation. “Stab me into the damn thing already!”
Snapping out of my trance, I shook my head and thrust forward. Burying Alexis into the green egg with a sickening squelch.
Chapter 15
Brie
With a grunt, I dragged Alexis’ blade further against the egg protrusion. Slicing it wide open and foul-smelling green liquid spilled out. The sword in question gasped and began to glow as well. Her handle grew hot, and I hissed in pain and let go. I stumbled back to see Alexis levitating in place. The sword let out a gleeful cry and, to my shock, sliced open the rest of the trunk like it was nothing.
“I CAN MOVE!” she cried out. The gargantuan lobster roared in pain as the vines on the right side of its body withered and faded away. Alexis laughed hysterically and plunged herself into the remaining trunk. The green liquid spilling forth. It rose to surround the sword before fading into her. “I CAN MOVE!” she cried again. “I CAN MOVE AND YOU ARE ALL FUCKED!”
A smidgen of concern worried my brow. She didn’t meanallof us, right?Honestly, it was so hard to tell where that sword stood half the time.
Two ghouls stopped their attempts to drag away Becca and charged at Alexis. The sword let out what I can only describe as maniacal laughter and embedded herself into the brittle deer skull of the one in front. The creature went down hard and the sword whipped herself around to slice the head clean off the second one.
“You hedonistic little bitch!” Father Dave roared. I sidestepped just in time to avoid his punch.
Unarmed a back away from the larger man. “How are you even still alive?” I asked. The man’s shoulder was bleeding profusely and his already pale face was ashen.
An enraged vein protruded from the side of his head. “You think I’d die at the hands of filthy commoners? I am the savior of this world. The mighty Omus hand picked me as his anointed one!”
I held up my hands. “Look, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but that thing.” I pointed to the shrieking lobster behind him. “Is not Omus. I know it sounds crazy, but you’re being manipulated by-”
“SILENCE.” He roared. “I will not entertain your lies. I’ll kill you myself and string your corpse up so we can drain every last bit of magic from your body.” Father Dave shot forward to grab me.
