The cock still firmly planted inside of me twitched. The thick base began to swell, and I shivered in anticipation. “You might say yes.” He breathed.

I nodded and ran my hands down his back. “If it’s confirmed that I am your fated mate, then you can turn me.” I held up a finger in warning. “But not a second sooner.”

His face broke out into a grin before he rocked into me. My legs came around his waist to hold him closer. I closed my eyes to savor how good his skin felt on mine. Yet a noise in the distance caught my attention. I looked toward it, scanning the river for any signs of an intruder.

Felix held my chin and forced me to look at him. “Eyes on my gorgeous.”

Lord have mercy.

In the distance, a soft feminine voice rang out. Growing closer. “On our left you’ll find a pink one-legged bird, also known as the flappy flap. Some say flappy flaps can unhinge their jaw and swallow a man whole. It’s me. I say that.”

I swatted Felix’s hand off my chin to see where the voice was coming from. “Do you not hear that?”

The man only groaned and thrust harder. “If there’s someone there, then let them watch. I’m not done with you.”

Ignoring him, I sat up on my elbows to get a better look around. But the only moving things I could see were a flamingo and a log floating down the river. It had something long and metal sticking out of it, but from what I could tell, no one was around.

“Oh, now this is a real treat, Barbara! On our right, you’ll see the shapely ass of some muscular heartthrob as he absolutely goes to town on the woman beneath him. Just look at that form. It’s a wonder and a marvel that her intestines haven’t been crushed into oblivion, what with that massive horse cock Blondy’s slinging.” said the disembodied voice.

Heat raced across my face, and I shoved Felix off me. “Yeah no, the mood is over, get off.”

He sighed in defeat and rolled onto his back, throwing an arm over his eyes. “Alright you little pervert, show yourself.” he said, loud enough for his voice to carry over the meadow.

The voice took on a mocking tone. “Crikey Barbara, I think we’ve angered the yellow fella! That’s just the kind of risks we have to take on these nature excursions.”

Snatching my breast band off the ground, I quickly covered myself and tried again to find the voice. “Where are you?” I snapped.

“Where are any of us?” The voice called. “Do we even have free will, or are we just hunks of carbon floating in the endless abyss? Merely stuck in the back of an alligator hoping one day the slow fucker meanders to the ocean?”

“That was oddly specific.” I said.

Felix rose from his spot next to me and made his way to the river. The voice hooped and hollered about the majesty of his abs, then fell silent as he shifted and dove into the water.

The log immediately changed course and darted towards Felix. A low hissing sound came out of the water before a ridged back appeared just above the surface.Oh shit, she literally meant an alligator.I rushed to the water’s edge and tried to wave off my werewolf. “Felix, get out of the water! It’s a gat-”

Angry hissing cut off with a crack. The two bodies thrashed violently, sending enormous splashes into the air. I watched through panic fingers and hoped Felix was just as handy as fighting gators as he was ghouls. After what seemed like days, a mass of blond fur emerged from the water. Felix stood, carrying the gator in one hand and a sword in the other. He threw the massive lizard onto the bank and stuck the sword into the dirt. The werewolf held up a hand when I tried to approach him, then backed away from me to shake off the water.

“Well, I don’t know about you, but I am seduced.” said the voice.

I looked at the sword in the sand. “Did…did you say that?”

“I did.” A chipper voice came. “Name’s Alexis, nice to meet ya. I’d shake your hand, but alas, I am but a sword.”

My deeply polite upbringing compelled a matching greeting. “Nice to meet you too, I’m Brie. Follow up question-” I gestured wildly at the sword and dead gator. “How?”

Felix emerged at my side. He had switched back into his human form and had wrapped his tattered shirt around his waist like a loincloth. It was then I realized that I was still mostly naked. He wrung more water out of his hair and slung an arm around my shoulder. “Let me guess, you’re the result of a fox demon’s curse, right?” He asked.

Sun glimmered off worn metal. “That is a fantastic guess.” The sword said, bemused. “Do you know my creator, Lucca? White hair, dark skin, wine snob?”

My werewolf’s normally cheerful demeanor had soured. Instead of his damn near permanent grin, he glared down at the sword as if it were the cause of all his struggles. It was a little unnerving. So I nudged his ribs playfully. “Lucca’s not some jealous ex I have to worry about, are they?”

His mouth formed a thin line, and the arm around my shoulders grew stiff. In front of us, the sword gasped. “Oh, burning silver plates, he is! You do know my creator!”

He grimaced and dropped his hand to the small of my back. “I swear you have nothing to worry about, Lamb. It was just a fling that ended years ago. I could just smell his magic on the sword. He pulled the same prank on Yala after the two got into a spat.” The hand on my back twitched, reminding me of his frantic tail anytime he was in werewolf form.

“Tell me everything!” The sword shouted.

Felix scowled at the weapon before turning back to me. I held up a hand to stop his panic. “It’s fine.” I began. “I was just making a joke. You had a life before we met, so did I.”
