Lita's eyes widened, then narrowed. “Excuse me?” She stepped closer to him, her voice low but firm. “Asher, healing isn't just what I do. It's who I am. You can't ask me to give that up.”
As they stood there, green eyes locked with silver, she felt their powerful personalities clashing, their auras both strong and unyielding. His eyes were flickering with his wolf, and she understood what was happening. She’d had many disagreements with Mira, and sometimes it caused her to react in frustration.
“Asher, your pack needs a healer. I’m good at what I do … I need to heal. Can’t you see that? Can Bo not see that? Or do I need to teach Bo a lesson? I am not a mate that can be controlled. I won’t be molded into an obedient mate who waits for you at the pack house. That isn’t me.” She glared into Asher’s dark eyes, speaking directly to Bo. This wasn’t up for debate, and he wasn’t going to control her like that.

Something is after our mate. We need to keep her closer to us!Bo growled to Asher as he paced angrily in his mind.
Bo, what the hell are you doing? It isn’t like you to fight me like this. Do I need to teach you your place again? I understand your jealousy, but we can work through it. That’s our problem, not hers. And as for her being in danger … I know that’s why you’re really acting out. We don’t like being in the dark about things, especially when it comes to our mate.
We can’t lose her. We’ve lost so much … we have to be strong enough to protect her.
I know, Bo. I feel the same way. I’d lay my life down for her, without any hesitation. Bo, I love her … we love her. She is going to be an amazing luna—
She already is.
Yes, she is. And she’s an incredible healer.
Bo immediately growled in Asher’s mind.I don’t want her touching other males.
Of course we don’t. She’s only trying to help them. You’re making me feel more possessive, and—
I’m an alpha, and I’m protective of what’s mine.
Asher sighed in frustration.Protective is fine … being a little possessive is understandable. But we aren’t going to stop her from being a healer. I love her too much to break her like that. She’s perfect the way she is. Let’s focus our energy on keeping her happy, making sure she knows she’s loved and creating a home for her. One she would never want to leave.
Bo stared at Lita through Asher’s eyes.I know. I understand, but I’m afraid. I’m afraid of losing her before we ever get that chance. I’ll try to do better, but I’m always going to be overprotective and possessive.
Lita watched the color of Asher’s eyes flickering back and forth.I guess we aren’t the only ones who fight.She listened as Mira laughed.
Of course not. We’re dominant and we’re leaders. Disagreements happen … especially when it comes to mates. If it was up to me, we would have been mated on day one.
And you would have killed Felicia.
In a heartbeat.Mira wasn’t ashamed to admit it. She still felt that Felicia’s days were numbered.
We’ll watch her, but keep in mind that we’re in the position she was going to be in. She was supposed to be the luna.

Mira, there are feelings involved here. Mates and our feral nature isn’t the only thing that exists. Matters of the heart are complicated. We need to be considerate of her pain.

We shouldn’t have to stop being a healer. There are bound to be some hiccups in a new relationship until everything gets ironed out. This isn’t a deal breaker.

No. There’s a part of you that’s blocked from me. Even now, there’s a block there. Some things have opened, but not everything. With this new power, I feel more tired … mentally.
