“Thank you so much,” they both said and then hurriedly went down the hall. Alice walked up to Lita.

“I’m so proud of you. Are you feeling okay? Are you getting weak?” Alice took note of the time. She had been away from Asher for two hours.

“Like you said, it isn’t going to kill me.” Lita gave her a tired smile.

“No, but it is extremely uncomfortable. Call him. I don’t want you suffering,” Alice commanded her daughter. She could see that Nathon agreed. Neither one of them wanted to see her in a weakened state.

Before Lita could even say something, the door in front of them slammed open. Asher’s eyes locked onto Lita. He looked at her and how she was being held up by her father. He strode over to her, taking large strides. He reached out and took her hand, pulling her into his chest.

“I would have been here sooner, but I couldn’t find the infirmary. Are you okay? Are you feeling okay?” Asher nuzzled his nose into her neck, planting small butterfly kisses and breathing in her scent.

Lita giggled. He was worried about her, which was cute. “I’m fine, Asher. I was just starting to get a bit tired.”

I don’t like being away from you that long, Lita. I felt anxious. I need to be near you, too. I need it. Bo needs it. I can’t be calm without you.

Lita smiled and leaned into him. If he was this overprotective now, he would be ballistic when it was almost time to deliver.

Don’t I know it.Asher smirked into her neck. “How’s the kid?”

“He’s going to be fine. He had a magical knot … think appendicitis. I had to perform surgery on him, but he’s going to be okay.”

Asher pulled back and looked into her shining emeralds. “You’re amazing, you know that? Simply amazing.”

“She is. I’m so proud of the person she is,” Alice said as she leaned into Nathon’s chest. They both swelled with pride over their daughter. If she hadn’t been there, they would have lost the boy. Nothing bad ever happened there. They never thought that letting the healers go for a day could have ended up being disastrous. It was a mistake they wouldn’t make again.

“You hungry? Last I checked, they were preparing all sorts of food.” Nathon looked at Asher and Lita, knowing a pregnant werewolf would be ready to eat.

“Yes, I’m starving.” Lita giggled.

“Let’s go get some food.” Nathon pulled Alice along, while Asher and Lita followed them.

“How was your sparring session?” Lita asked, glancing up at Asher.

“We got taken down by two rambunctious bear cubs. They wouldn’t let us fight and wanted in on the action. Those two aren’t afraid of nothing.” Asher grinned.

“Well, to be fair, you and Grayson are nothing to be afraid of anyway.” Lita giggled and felt Asher’s gentle tug on her side.

Asher, I love you.Lita leaned her head onto his shoulder, feeling his gentle hold on her waist.

I love you, too.

Chapter 84

News about how the princess had saved the small child had spread like wildfire. Everyone wanted to see the fairy healer who would one day be queen. It started with someone complainingabout having a splinter and then, before Lita knew it, she was back at the infirmary seeing one patient after another.

Her mother brought her some cool lemonade to drink. “You sure you have regular healers here?” Lita giggled.

“I guess there are more people willing to see you for their medical needs. It also gives them the opportunity to get up close and personal.” Alice grinned, seeing how well-liked Lita was already. She told Lita she didn’t have to treat them, since nothing was life-threatening, but Lita outright refused. She said if someone wanted to see her, she would be available to them.

Lita reached up to the top cabinet to get some gauze down. One of the fairies she was treating had cut themselves while gardening.

“I can get that, Lita.” Asher effortlessly reached up and plucked it down. He had insisted on staying and helping her out, not wanting to leave her alone this time. For now, he was her personal assistant.

“Thank you, Ash.” Lita gave his jawline a quick peck before heading into the next room. Alice followed her out and headed into the waiting room. She wanted to check on the people who were waiting to be seen. Rosa was also there, getting a queue organized among the many random patients.

“Hey Asher, has your boss taken advantage of you yet?” Grayson peeked into the room, having come in through the back entrance.

“Not yet.” Asher frowned. “Maybe I’m dressed too modestly?”
