Pulling into the parking lot Riley grins when he sees the sign. Lee’s Teriyaki Bowl. Lee’s was a regular spot for them and Mac in high school. They would frequent Lee’s every Friday night before a football or basketball game. The sweet tangy sauce stirred into the rice and veggies made a relatively healthy meal turn into a high-caloric salty treat.

“Wow, you’re pulling out all the stops today, aren’t you?” Riley teases as he gives Colin’s neck a final squeeze before releasing his hand. “Would you prefer something else?”

“Nope, you had me at teriyaki,” Riley says before unclicking his seatbelt and exiting the Jeep.

Scene 7

Setting: The Review Theater

Rockport, Massachusetts

Colin

The bell on the door chimed as they walked into the lobby of the theater. Riley is carrying a large white bag and the smell of their lunch is intoxicating as both Riley and Colin are starving. Colin even threatened to eat a cinnamon roll from the box in his hand as an appetizer.

“Please tell me you have enough to share. I’m famished,” Mac says while laying her tool belt across a chair propped against the wall.

“Sorry,” Colin replies with a grin toward Riley. “We didn’t know you would be here.”

“Seriously? I’ve literally been here every day for a week working on this set.” Mac gives him the side eye while folding the plans and tucking them into the outer pocket of the belt. “I see how it is, Riley’s back, and I get tossed out like yesterday’s garbage.”

“We aren’t sharing for 2 reasons,” Colin starts before Mac interrupts.

“I got my cootie shot,” she says while grinning with a raised eyebrow trying to persuade him while crisscrossing a spot on her bicep as if mocking a poor first grader.

“Ha, the first reason is we just don’t want to,”Colin says while trying to sound firm but it falls short.

“Bitches, both of you,” Mac says while pointing back and forth between the two of them.

“Secoooond”, Riley draws out the vowel for dramatic effect while reaching into the bag, “We bought you your own.”

“But fabulous bitches. You dostilllove me.”

Mac reaches for her bowl of half chicken, half beef, extra veggies, brown rice, and extra sauce before Riley sets the bag on the counter and smiles over at Colin.

“Hate you both for teasing me like that. You know I get hangry.”

“You love us.”

“I do, as long as you two made up. I’m not walking on eggshells around you both for the next few weeks,” she jabs her fork into a carrot.

“No eggshells.”

Colin leans into Riley while placing the cinnamon rolls on the counter. He grabs Riley by the waist and pulls him into a soft kiss before grinning like one of the high school girls in the back row of that theater.

“Hello. What’s happening here?” Mac mumbles while pushing chicken to one side of her mouth to get the words out.

“We talked,” Riley’s cheeks pop a shade of pink.

Mac swallows her food before replying. “Looks like more than talked. And it’s about damn time you two hit the sheets.”

“Totally agree,” Riley raises his eyebrows at Colin.

“Excuse me!” Colin was now the one with blushed cheeks. “It’s a bit premature for baby making don’t you think?”

Colin smacks Riley on the ass when Riley starts to walk away from him. Riley notices the wall lined with musical posters and stops at the Rent poster.

“You still have it.”
