"Who knows but I want somewhere way nicer than I'm used to. I saw a few condos online that I love in Brooklyn and in Harlem."
She sighed.
"I just hope that Emoney can keep up with this lifestyle that she is getting me used to. I know how quickly money can go, and five hundred grand can go quick as shit."
Pernelle hushed up quickly, almost as if she'd made a mistake by letting that off. If Emoney got five hundred thousand dollars from a lick, that means she had to rob someone rich, which could bring them all types of problems. But no wonder they are spending money like rappers now.
I waited until I walked away from the counter where extra ears were before speaking my mind to my friend, who always speaks hers.
"Pernelle, I know I'm usually the one making terrible decisions over my significant other, but please listen to me when I say you need to be careful with Emoney and this new lifestyle she's trying to provide. Both of you.”
"You know I am. I'm not dying or going to jail for her, and she knows that. Trust, I told her to be careful."
"But how do you know that she will?"
"And how do you know that Hov will? He's not the safest nigga to be with either."
I could tell from her tone that she was snapping at me.
"You are absolutely right, but I was just giving my opinion in concern for you."
"Well, don't forget about yourself."
I rolled my eyes because I could see right now that she was being Ms. Dish it and can't take it.
Pernelle and I probably had four arguments in the many years we've been friends, and most of the time they started overa brief misunderstanding. I'm not going to let shit get in between me and my best friend, though. Before I let it, I will remove myself from the conversation.
"Well, P, I'm about to get back in the car, and Hov is playing music, so I will have to call you back."
"Okay, talk to you later."
The phone disconnected, and I opened the passenger door to climb inside. Hov sat his phone down in the cup holder and exhaled deeply before he looked over to me.
"You got everything you needed?"
"Yeah, it's all here."
I replied, before I leaned over to Hov in the car and kissed him, sliding my tongue into his mouth for something to take the edge off after my brief argument with Pernelle. When I pulled away from him, I could see that he looked both shocked and dazed for a moment.
"Are you good, Hov?"
"I'm better than good. You just tell me how many more places you need to go if I can get kissed like that every time you get back in the car."
"Babe, you can get kisses like that for nothing. Especially now that you are mine."
I made him smile.
"Oh, so you're claiming me now?"
"Yes, I am. We are together, a couple."
"Swear?"
"I swear."
"Put that shit on everything."
"On everything, baby."
