“Press record when you’re ready. It will be sent in real-time to the other Retribution Kings.” One last glance to Hayes, and then Gage vanishes out the door.

I exhale a ragged breath, realizing I’ve been holding it the entire time he spoke.

“You okay? Gage isn’t exactly great at social interactions. But he’s all bark and no bite,” Hayes says.

“You sure? It seems like he has quite a bite. What was he talking about?”

Hayes is in front of me in a second, his hands resting gently on my hips as he stares down at me with a pain in his eyes.

“That I can’t save you.”

“What?” my throat dries.

“I should have found another way. I should have saved you. This is…”

“You’re not responsible for me, and you’re definitely not responsible for saving me. I don’t want you to save me. I want you to help me get revenge.”

“We don’t have to do this tonight. We can prolong it until we find another solution.”

“No, we can’t. And I don’t want to.”

His mouth drops open as his breathing picks up. “What do you want, Lilith? My murderous one.”

“I want to suck your cock. I want you to lick me. I want to make you come and you me. I want to feel your cock sliding into me, ruining me for any other man.”

His teeth grind together as his eyes smolder into darkness. There is no smile, no playfulness, only an anticipation of what’s about to happen.

“You’re sure?”

I nod. “Yes, I don’t care about the reasons why. I want you. I trust you.” At least with this. With my plans for revenge, I’m not so sure. But with my body, my pleasure—I trust him completely.

He shudders, and I haven’t even touched him.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for what I’m about to become. But I promise I’ll make it good for you.”

Aren’t I the one supposed to make it good for him? I open my mouth to ask, but he reaches behind me, and I know he’s turning on the camera.

A fervent anticipation spreads through me. I don’t have to wait long to find out what Hayes meant.

He grabs me roughly, fisting my hair in his hand. His eyes turn into dark orbs, and his lips curl into a menacing grin. He laughs manically as my eyes widen with a whisper of fear swirling in my lower belly.

He pulls me roughly to the bed, tossing me down on it until I land on my back. I instinctively climb up the bed, trying to get away from him. I look for a weapon, anything to use against him.

Dark, villainous laughter fills the room as I try to get away from him. Hayes stands at the foot of the bed, his back to the laptop as he looks at me, climbing away from him.

Trust me, he mouths with a soft smile.

This is all an act, a game. He’s not going to hurt me, not going to take. And the way he’s standing in front of the camera, already blocking my body from view, tells me I should trust him. The desire pooling in my belly won’t let me back out. I want this. I want him.

I give him the subtlest of nods, giving him my permission to continue. Damn, am I going to enjoy this when the wicked gleam returns to his eyes. I’m sure of it.

Chapter 18

Hayes

I will not break her.

That’s the promise I repeat to myself over and over in my head. I will not break her—not today, not ever.
