“I don’t know yet, but there’s a situation out here I could use a hand with.”
“Tell me what’s going on.” I say seriously, catching Piston’s eye across the room and jerking my head to tell him to follow. I don’t want to spoil the celebration, but I know it’s probably best to grab one of the club’s Officers attention. Piston is not only the only one not currently with Wrath and Flame, but he’s one of my closest friends.
Piston nods his head and starts to make his way towards the door, making sure not to draw anyone’s attention to himself. I follow, making sure to listen to what Jake’s saying so I don’t miss any important information.
“A kid showed up asking to speak to Wrath, Flame, or Shadow. The thing is, it’s not just some random kid Flash; he’s Megan’s little brother, and I really didn’t want to interrupt their celebration with this if I didn’t have to.”
Megan’s little brother? Why would he be here? I really hope this isn’t some new way for Megan to cause trouble for Shadow and Wreck. She’s caused enough issues and just needs to disappear into the fucking ether, never to be heard of again.
“You made the right call. Piston and I are on our way. We’ll find out what he wants.”
“Thank you. I don’t think he means harm, but with everything that happened, I wanted to be cautious.”
“I get it, Jake. We’ll be there in a minute.” I reassure him.
Hanging up the phone, I fill Piston in on what I know as we head towards our rides. It’s the quickest way for us to get to the gates and figure out what is going on now. Please, for the love of God, don’t let it be more problems. It only takes minutes for us to pull up at the gates and head towards where Jake is standing.
At my first glance at the boy waiting outside the gates, my feet stop moving, and I can feel the color draining out of my face. This is Megan’s little brother? If that’s the case, then why the fuck does it seem like I’m looking at a ghost from my own past?
“Flash. Snap the fuck out of it. I see it too. Let’s find out why he’s here and then figure out why the hell he looks so much like Wyatt.”
Well, at least I know I’m not imagining things because I miss Wyatt. Piston sees it too, and if anyone is going to notice this boy’s resemblance to my younger brother, it’d be the guy who grew up living next door to us. I don’t know what the hell is going on, but I plan on finding out.
I want answers more than anything, but it’s going to have to wait until we find out why he’s here in the first place. He must have a reason for showing up here and asking to speak to Wrath, Flame, or Shadow.
One thing I know for certain is that he definitely isn’t Wyatt’s kid; he’s far too old for that to be true, and that’s not even taking into account that my little brother is gay and always has been. There’s something very fucking hinky going on here. That much I’m certain of, and if the look on Piston’s face is anything to go by, he’s thinking the same thing.
Taking a deep breath, I start heading towards the gates, Piston by my side. Jake is throwing looks of worry at me, clearly catching the way I acted when I first spotted the young man. I get it; Jake has no idea that Megan’s younger brother is a spitting image of my own brother Wyatt when he was that age. He’s never met Wyatt. Wyatt was long gone before Jake joinedDevil’s Inferno, all because I couldn’t keep my fucking big mouth shut.
I need to stop thinking about the past. I can’t change anything about it. I need to focus on the here and now. Starting with talking to the young man and finding out what he wants, and maybe learning his name while I’m at it. Once I’ve done that, all bets are off because I will get answers to the questions running through my mind.
