But life rarely turns out the way we expect it to. At least I now have the skills I wouldn’t otherwise have. They tend to come in handy.
My attention returns to Sienna.
She seems so sweet and innocent, like an angel staring through the window into the darkness. She’ll make a good, obedient wife, which is exactly what I need for my plan to work.
She’ll be my way in.
I’ll use her to get what I want, and when I grow bored of her, I’ll find a way to get rid of her.
The only thing I need to do is figure out how to convince Orlando to give me his precious daughter. As soon as she’s turned eighteen, the Lionettis have been buried in marriage proposals.
It’s not a secret everyone wants an alliance with the Lionettis. They have been around for decades, and they started small—Dario Lionetti, who came from Italy, was no more than a lowly drug dealer, but ended up having a big family.
Dario’s sons were known as the terror of their street, and soon, the boss of a small gang hired them for his racketeering exploits. But once the boss of the gang died, the Lionettis took over, and their area of influence expanded.
It was Orlando who made the Lionetti empire truly shine, especially after he struck a deal with the Colombians and established a safe and cheap route for moving his product. Orlando is very smart when it comes to striking deals, and I’m sure he’ll want to make the best deal for his daughter.
But what could a man who has everything need?
I know just the right thing.
A black SUV pulls over in the driveway, and a smile spreads across my lips. It’s exactly what I’ve been waiting for. I take a good look at the dark-haired man who gets out of the car.
Over the past few weeks, aside from learning a few interesting things—like which room belongs to Sienna—I’ve seen a lot of people show up at the Lionetti residence.
All of them work for Orlando, and one of them is going to lead me straight to what I’m looking for.
Tonight just might be my lucky night.
Chapter 2
IRUB MY ARMS AS Istare into the darkness.
“Sienna?” I hear my cousin’s voice and turn around.
Emilia is only a year younger than me, and she’s also my best friend, since I don’t really have a chance to make many friends because of who I am and what my family does.
