Chapter 51
IDON’T KNOW WHY I’Mstill alive, but I am.
It gives me hope. Maybe I can free myself somehow.
When no one’s looking at me, I find a sharp edge on the arm of the chair and try to use it to cut through the rope.
It seems impossible, but I have nothing to lose.
I’m already dead anyway.
Even if I free myself of the rope, it’s highly unlikely I’m going to manage to escape a bunch of armed and trained men.
I don’t even have a weapon. Not that having one would help me too much.
“When’s the update coming?” a man with lots of tattoos asks.
“In about ten minutes.”
“Do you think it will come?” The tattoos guy is looking at me with a strange gleam in his eyes.
“We’ll see. If not, we have to kill her.”
Ten minutes.
That’s all I have left of my life.
I’m not even sure how I feel about it.
Maybe it’s terror, or maybe it’s just nothing.
“It would be a waste to kill her,” the tattoos guy says, coming closer. “She’s so pretty.”
His fingers brush my cheek, and I recoil from his touch.
“Leave her alone.”
“Why?” The tattoos guy’s lowers to my breast, squeezing hard.
Nausea rises at the back of my throat.
I don’t want him to keep touching me, but his hand trails down, groping me.
“Stop!” I yell. “Don’t touch me!”
