When the ocean floor started to rise, Loriun’s consciousness dropped back into his body. He had no idea how much time had passed, only that he’d reached his destination. He breached the surface and splashed out onto land, not bothering to shift back into a more practical form.

Instead, he dashed toward his car, ignoring how thin the air felt in his lungs. He seized the cell phone he’d left lying in the driver’s seat and dialed his assistant’s number.

“Kaoi, I have a task for you.”

Kaoi deserves a raise,Loriun thought. He sat in the middle of the first guest room, furiously flipping through a booklet of assembly instructions. Kaoi had already erected several shelves and stocked them with bottles. Now, he was unpacking a box of crystal tumblers.

“Okay, Mr. Kolhn.” Kaoi straightened up with a tired exhale. “Everything is unpacked and assembled except that one.” He gestured to the jumble of screws and boards surrounding Loriun. “Do you want me to help with that?”

“No,” Loriun barked. “I mean.” He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “That’s okay, Kaoi. You’ve already done more than enough. Why don’t you head home?”

Kaoi smothered a smile. “If you say so, boss.”

The Omega vanished onto the landing and down the staircase. Loriun held his breath until he heard the door close.

Then he exploded. “Fuck this fucking piece of fucking garbage!” He hurled a hex wrench at the wall, wincing when it stuck. Beau would be here any minute and Loriun was getting his ass handed to him byfurniture.

A small noise echoed up the stairs. The front door was opening again.

“Loriun?” Beau’s voice was thin, nervous.

“Noivux oisye ,”Loriun muttered before calling, “I am upstairs.”

Hesitant footfalls sounded from the stairs. Loriun pushed himself to his feet just as Beau appeared in the doorway.

“Beau, I can explain,” he started.

Beau’s eyes widened. “What is all this?”

“I heard what your father was saying to you,” Loriun growled. “And I was… angered by the way he spoke to you.”

Beau dropped his gaze. “He’s trying to look out for my mother.”

Loriun shook his head. “I do not think that’s true. But regardless, your happiness is my priority, and I have no plans to allow him to force you to bend to his will.”

A weak smile crossed Beau’s handsome features. “That still doesn’t explain what you’ve done to the guest room.”

“Ah.” Loriun looked at the unassembled cabinet at his feet. “I accidentally entered your room while looking for the art gallery. I saw the bar and your collection.”

“Oh. That.” Beau shrugged. “I always liked mixing drinks and collecting rare liquors.”

“It seems like more than a passing interest. So, I decided to build a bar for you here.” Loriun kicked a loose board. “But it turns out I am not skilled at furniture assembly.”

Beau stared up at him. “You built me a bar?”

“Tried to,” Loriun corrected.

The Omega took a step closer. “Why?”

Loriun blinked. “To make you happy. What other reason is there?”

Beau’s warm mouth crashed into his.

Every bit of rage and frustration was chased from his body by the rush of heat that flooded Loriun’s body. Beau’s skin felt hot against his, despite the layers of clothing between them.

Loriun’s cock stirred within his slit. “Beau,” he said in a low voice, breaking their frantic kiss. “If you keep going…”
