“Lying the Omega on his side is likely the safest and most comfortable, with the Alpha lying behind him.”

Beau stared hard at the ceiling, wondering if different aliens could abduct him.

“Another popular option for Mer couples that may work well for you, considering Beau’s temporary gills, would be engaging in the act submerged. The water will resolve any issues gravity may cause.”

One of Beau’s fingers came up to trace the slits along his neck. He’d been putting them to good use, swimming every afternoon and enjoying the relief it offered his aching back. He’d been very disappointed to learn that the gills would vanish afterhe gave birth, but then again, some Omegas never developed the ability to breathe underwater at all.

“That is very useful information, Doctor,” Loriun said, grinning over at Beau. “Thank you.”

Despite the overall discomfort of the situation, Beau’s body stirred at the idea of being thoroughly railed underwater. It was one of life’s greatest mysteries that he could barely waddle his way to their birthing classes, yet he had all the energy in the world to mount his mate and ride him into the sunset.

It is 3 p. m., pull yourself together.

“Well, you have no further questions, you are free to go.” Dr. Enas got to his feet. “I’ll see you next week.”

Flora waved, then followed the lilac-scaled Mer out the door.

“Weekly checkups feel excessive,” Beau complained. “I’m pregnant, not dying.”

Loriun helped him off the exam chair. “As far as I am aware, the procedure is the same for human women.”

“Don’t try to logic me,” Beau grumbled.

As spring arrived, Beau only became grumpier and more uncomfortable. Just one week now stood between him and his due date. After yet another appointment at the clinic, Beau was entirely fed up. Loriun patiently guided him to the sofa, and wrapped him in a blanket.

“I will make some tea,” he said, pecking Beau on the cheek.

“I don’t want tea,” Beau complained. “I want a cocktail. Or a coffee. Wait, no, an Irish coffee.”

“Sorry,luae.”

Beau flung himself backward against the couch, grumbling under his breath. The quiet roar of the electric kettle thrummed through the air, countered only by the sound of tiny waves lapping at the edge of the living room pool. Beau eyed the low stone wall.

“Remember what Dr. Enas said the other week?” he called over to Loriun.

“Which part?”

“The part about how sex can help prepare me for labor? And how doing it in the water is good for taking the weight off my joints or whatever?”

The kettle clicked off, but there was no indication of water being poured into a mug.

“Who knows how long we have left with my gills,” Beau went on, keeping his tone light. “So I was thinking—oof.”

A pair of corded arms yanked him off the sofa from behind. He crashed up against a very solid chest.

“Very wise,” Loriun said in a quiet growl. “We certainly must take advantage of your current anatomy before it is too late. For your health, of course.”

“Right, of course.”

Together, they sank into the water. Beau gave a little gasp at the sudden temperature change.

“Cold?” Loriun said, a devilish grin on his lips. “We can’t have that. Let me warm you up before we dive.”

Beau’s ass hit the shell bench with a bump. The water kissed his collarbones, sending shivers up his spine. Loriun sank below the surface until only the abstract shape of his coiling red hair was visible. A smooth hand slid up Beau’s thigh, parting his legs. Already, heat was building low in his belly.

Loriun’s mouth followed his hand’s progress, kissing a slow path up his leg. His hands rounded Beau’s hips, brushingalong his ass before retracing their movement along his thighs. Beau’s heart thudded beneath his chest, and he let his legs fall open. He felt Loriun’s broad shoulders settle between them, arms wrapping underneath and gripping his ass. The Mer tugged him forward on the bench, offering his cock more space to stiffen under the expanse of his belly.
