“Shit,” he grumbles. “Okay. Want me to take the cast off?”

There’s only one way to find out. “Yes.”

“Gods.” Jack curses and sits back on his heels. “This is insane.”

But Aiden is completely focused on his task. “I don’t want to hurt you,” he says softly. “I need you to hold very still.”

Then, in one swift, smooth move, he pulls a hunting knife from beneath his bed, slams the tip into my cast, and rips it open. I’m left staring at my pale, dusty forearm. What thefuckwas that? I look up and meet his gaze, my heart thundering. I thought it took a circular saw to remove the cast. If he’d missed by half an inch, he could have sliced the inside of my arm open from elbow to wrist. And yet, I don’t have a scratch on me.

“Thanks,” I utter feebly. “I think.”

“Holy hell, man,” Ty says, prying the knife from Aiden’s hand. “Any reason you have a knife stashed under your bed?”

But Aiden’s not listening to him. “How does it feel?”

My stomach clenches in anxiety. I don’t want to move my arm—if it’s still broken, it’ll hurt like a mother. And I’ll have to return to the hospital for another cast. Also, I don’t want to be in pain anymore. The past two days have been terrible, though I didn’t want to complain.

But at the first twitch of my fingers, I realize nothing feels broken anymore. My wrist moves perfectly, the bone whole and healed. Encouraged, I roll my wrist, testing it.

“Well?” Jack asks. He’s kneeling beside me, his expression tense. “What do you think?”

I grin at them. “It’s perfect.”

Skye

My relief is so profound,I laugh and lean back, looking from one man to the other. They stood by me and helped me when I needed it, and I know they’d do it again and again. I would do the same for them—Iwilldo it for them, by creating such a protection around their village that no one will ever be able to find them.

“Thank you,” I tell them. “I couldn’t have done it without you.”

Aiden visibly relaxes, his shoulders slumping in relief. “Thank the gods.”

Ty smiles, then leans down to kiss me. “Fuck, Skye, this was incredible.”

I kiss him back, twining my arms around his neck. It’s amazing to me that I get to do that now without pain. This spell wasn’t very complex as far as incantations go, nor were the ingredients hard to source, but I healed my fuckingbone, and I’m feeling pretty damn good about myself.

Ty’s lips are warm and firm, and he kisses me hard, pulling me into his lap. At the same time, I feel Jack’s arms come around me from behind. He nuzzles the side of my neck, his stubble rough on my skin.

The mood of the moment changes instantly. The intimacy of what we’d just shared, their trust and openness, morphs into a closeness of a different sort. Heat blooms in my belly, and as I move in Ty’s lap, the hard ridge of his erection strains beneath me.

A shuffle from beside us catches my attention. I look up and find Aiden staring down at us, hands balled into fists by his sides. He doesn’t speak but watches us with heat in his eyes. Jack and Ty go still as if they’re letting Aiden and me decide what will happen next.

“I’m going to…” Aiden indicates the door, but he doesn’t move.

We’re in his room, so it should be us leaving. I don’t want to, though. There’s nothing I wish more than for us all to remain together right now, to keep the powerful energy we felt earlier flowing between us.

“Will you stay?” I ask him.

His handsome face is so open for a moment, I can read every emotion that passes over it. Lust, uncertainty, longing. Then he schools his features into something harder, harsher. With one quick nod, he walks to the single armchair in the room, turns it toward the bed, and sits.

Oh shit.I bite my lip, suddenly uncertain.

Aiden wants to watch.

Ty lets out a low, wicked laugh. “Perfect.”

He stands, lifting me with effortless ease. On instinct, I put my hands around his neck and hold on as he carries me to Aiden’s wide bed. Then he puts me down and steps away.
