“Hmmm?”

“I heard you that night in the ambulance,” I confess, leaning down to pepper kisses along his neck as I continue rolling my hips in a slow, sensual grind. The room smells like sex and lube, each slap of skin on skin creating obscene noises. His own movements halt, his head snapping back to search my gaze. I give him a reassuring smile because I don’t want him to be afraid of this moment. I know I’m not.

I just…wanted to make it perfect.

“I just want you to know…” I pause on a gasping inhale, both of us moaning as I snap my hips against his. His leaking cock bounces, and I begin stroking it. His mouth falls open again, and I know he’s getting close. Through his glazed, pleasure-wrought expression, his eyes remain locked on me in something that looks like a mix of fear, longing, and hope.

“I love you, too,” I gasp. “You’re the love of my life and I never want to live another day without you.”

He makes a strangled noise that sounds suspiciously like a sob.

That warm feeling of intimacy, of being right where I belong, that blinding ray of happiness fills me until I’m brimming with it. Since I’ve met Alek, he’s treated me like I’m something precious and irreplaceable, like I’m something he doesn’t want to lose. One day, he just opened his arms and began effortlessly carving out a place for me in his life, never once making me beg for his attention or love. He just…gave it to me freely. Like I deserved it just for being me. I would be a damn fool not to hold onto that.

I slow the speed of my thrusts, pressing my lips against his ear as I move inside him. Then I pour my soul out to him, taking his vulnerability and giving it back tenfold. “You’re the light in my darkness, and I’m lost without you. I see you too, Alek Cromwell, every jagged and scarred piece you try to hide. I see it all, and there isn’t a part of you I don’t love.”

Big, fat tears begin rolling down his cheeks even as his hips thrust back to meet mine. Then he pushes himself up onto his knees, my chest plastered to his back as he reaches behind him to loop an arm around my neck. He speaks around grunts and groans, his voice strained with pleasure. “Thank fuck because…I love you so much, sometimes I think I’m going to combust, like I can’t contain it all. One day you just showed up and everything fell into place, and having you in my life feelsright. Sometimes it feels like we are becoming the same person, like there’s no Alek without Luke and—fuck it, will you marry me?”

The word marry sets me off, my balls drawing up tight as pleasure ripples down my spine and bursts inside me like a dam. I cry out, burying my face in his neck as my thrusts turn erratic and choppy before I spill inside him. Alek gasps, his back practically bowing as he moans. He comes with my hand still wrapped around his cock, some of his cum coating my fingers and some of it splattering onto his stomach.

I pull out and we collapse onto our stomachs with our legs intertwined, not caring that we’re coated in sweat and cum. My mind spins as I pant, the words playing on repeat in my head.

He wants to share his life with me.

“Did I ruin the moment?” Alek asks tentatively, turning his head to study me. His eyelashes flutter, and there’s a droopy sort of slur in his voice. “Shit, I should have been more romantic. Forget it. I’ll ask again later, and I’ll get it right—”

“Yes,” I say quickly, “I want to be your husband. No take backs.”

“Really?”

I snort. “Do bears shit in the woods?”

“Don’t be cheeky,” Alek growls, pinching my ass until I yelp and jerk away. “Now, I want to cuddle. Be a good boy and get your ass over here.”

I hum, scooting back towards him until our sides are plastered together where I lie facing him. “Alek?”

“Hmm?”

“Do you think I can get Caleb to call me Step-Daddy?”

Laughter rumbles from Alek’s chest, his body shaking with it. “I love it when you’re bratty.”

“I hope you still think so when we’re old and gray. You’ve got a whole lifetime of it ahead of you.”

The back of his knuckle caresses my cheek. “Wouldn’t want it any other way,” he admits quietly.

With our futures permanently intertwined, I can’t wait to see what life has in store for us. Regardless of what happens, I’mhis, and he’smine.

Luke

Five Years Later

“Uncle Luke!” Abigail shrieks, her chubby face lighting up in that child-like delight only a four-year old is capable of. She bolts up the sidewalk of our brand-new home, pumping her little legs with her brown pigtails flapping in the wind and launching herself into my outstretched arms. Her tiny body slamsinto mine with more force than should be possible for someone so light, and I grunt when her foot accidently connects with my side.

“There’s my little sunshine!” I scoop her up, standing to full height before spinning us in a circle. Her shrieks and pearls of laughter make me grin.

“Where’s my hug?” Alek playfully grouches.

She makes grabby hands. “Uncle Alek!”
