far away in his pain-filled dream,

his eyes in a distant place.

I took a deep, shaky breath,

and with blood-soaked feet,

felt myself returned to the floor.

I backed away from my father,

feeling sick with anguish.

Styx took my hand as I reached her and Hades.

We were silent on the journey back.

I promise, I whispered to myself,

One day, I will free him.

I will free them all.

On Reflection

My parents were both Gods.

My father, Perses, was the Titan God of War.

My mother, Asteria, was the Titanide

of Oracles and Shooting Stars.

They once owned a palace

so grand that every God

and demi-God talked of it

with such great awe.

And my birth was supposed

to be a joyous occasion.

But this was before the war.

And now my parents,

once a God and a Goddess,

served the rest of their eternities

as an island in the middle of nowhere

and a slave in the worst realm

of all the mortal and immortal worlds.
