I turned to Thanatos in fear,

‘What is this?’

Charon answered,

‘Demeter.

Her daughter was taken.

And she will kill the world

unless she gets her back.’

A Mother’s Love

is powerful.

It is a force

to be reckoned with.

My mother saved my life.

Demeter would take every life

to get her daughter back.

A mother’s love is many things

but most of all it is ancient

and it is destructive

to anything and anyone

that stands between her

and her child.

I chose my words

cautiously.

‘I will go see her.’

Charon shook his head.

‘You have nothing

to offer her she hasn’t heard.’

My smile was cryptic.
