He grins—infuriatingly calm—and tucks the box into the pocket of his linen pants.

“Okay,” he says. “I won’t.”

“You won’t?”

Am I disappointed or happy about this? Not sure.

“Nope,” he murmurs. “Not until you’re ready.”

I stare at him, unsure whether I want to punch him or kiss him.

“I’m not sure I’ll ever be ready,” I admit, voice quiet now. “This…us…it’s still fragile.”

He looks at me, his heart in his eyes. “Then I’ll wait, Moonbeam.”

“For how long?”

“Forever.”

And that makes me love him even more.

Even if I won’t say it.

Maybe not for a while.

But I will.

Eventually.

He knows it, and I know it. And, I got to say, it feels damn good to have Dom back with me, to have the me who blossoms with him around.

Then, as if he didn’t just threaten to propose marriage to me, Dom sits back down and pours himself coffee.

I sit down as well, and he refills my cup.

Still, the man deserves to suffer a little, and I intend to make him.

I wonder how long Devon will be in town?

CHAPTER 27

Dom

“I’m coming with you,” I repeat quietly, making sure my tie is in place.

“My father will be there,” Luna argues, standing behind me, glaring at me in the mirror.

“Okay.”

She’s in a black dress. It’s like a second skin. Has a slit a mile long that makes me want to slide my hands up her thighs, make her wet, make her come.

She has no jewelry on except diamond studs in her ears and a Bulgari watch. Since her dress is ankle length, she’s wearing sandals with kitten heels, and complaining about them. If it were long and hid her feet, she could’ve worn sneakers.

I watched her get dressed. It was a privilege. Because that’s something only a boyfriend gets to do.

We’redating!

For real.
