I turn to Sterling. “Gabriel? Caroline?”

“He woke up an hour ago. Our doctor is checking him out,” he assures me. “But he thinks Gabriel will be fine.” Green eyes meet mine in relief. “Caroline’s got a concussion. She’s spitting mad that he grabbed Gabriel, but she’ll fine too.”

Thankful, I close my eyes for a brief second.

The phone. “We need to get Rodrigo’s phone and delete those pictures.”

Cruz holds it up. “Done.” He takes the SIM card out and puts it in his pocket. He strides over and kisses me hard on the mouth. “Let’s go home.”

Neither of us were willing to let Gabriel out of our sight last night, so Sterling and I put him between us. I sit up and glance at the clock. Nine-thirty a.m. Gabriel’s staring at me with wide eyes. He swivels his head to look at Sterling, who’s also wide awake and staring at the two of us with a fierce expression on his face. It will take him a while to get over this.

“Is everyone awake but me?”

“Now everyone is awake,” Cruz grumbles from the floor.

I lean over the bed and find three mattresses scattered around the bed. Raider, Cruz, and Zane are all looking up at me.

“Well, I don’t know how you’re going to top that date night,” I tease Zane.

He grunts. “I’ll take something a little less exciting for eight hundred, please.” His grey eyes scan my face. “How are you feeling?”

My lips twitch at his Jeopardy! quote.

“Sore, relieved Gabriel’s okay, happy he’s gone,” I state, looking at Raider with a smile. “How did you get there so quickly?”

“Raider slid into the backseat at the restaurant. He couldn’t do anything with you drugged in the front seat. We knew you had the tracker, but it’s not foolproof. When you arrived at the barn, he couldn’t get cell reception to alert us to your location, so he had to climb to the roof. When he climbed down, he saw you kick Rodrigo in the face,” Zane explains, anger in his voice.

I wink at Raider.

“Can we remove the tracker from him?” I pointedly nod at Gabriel.

“We need some pretty sophisticated equipment to even locate it. Thankfully, Henley has something that will work at her office. Once we find the chip, we’ll pull it to the surface and cut it out. It’s incredibly tiny, so he won’t require more than a dinosaur band-aid,” he says, wrapping Gabriel in his arms.

“And no more talk of tagging us?” I eye him, knowing that he’s been thinking about it.

“No,” he shudders.

Standing, I stretch. The long t-shirt I’m wearing rides up to the tops of my thighs, and Cruz’ brown eyes smolder.

I pull it down and walk around him to get to the door. One second, I’m standing, and the next, I’m lying beside Raider with a knife in my face. “Don’t forget your knife.”

I wrap my hands around the hilt and lean up to give him a kiss. “Thank you.” Scrambling to my feet, I make my way out of the room.

After showering and doctoring my face, I head downstairs to search for Zane. He’s talking to Gabriel while he eats his breakfast. The sight of this huge man talking to this tiny little boy makes my heart melt.

I slide my arm around his waist. “When you’re done here, want to call Eduardo with me?”

His eyes light up. “Yes, definitely.”

Fifteen minutes later, I’m sitting in Zane’s lap, calling the number Eduardo gave to me.

He picks up on the first ring. “Hola.”

“Eduardo, it’s Quinn. We got him. Él está muerto.”
