“Drink?” Uncle’s voice brought me out of my thoughts. I turned away, not wanting him to see the unshed tears in my fucking eyes. I took the glass he shoved in my face before he sat down on the fountain edge too, taking a gulp of his own drink. “It hurts like a bitch, doesn’t it?”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said quietly, not bothering to even taste the alcohol he had passed me.

“I do, but can I compare to your pain? Fuck no. What that girl’s gone through was way more than even I could stomach. By our kind… when I find them, I want to torture them to the brink of their life, get Kiara to heal them, and do it all fucking over again. Every time I see her… I feel fucking weak. She has suffered so fucking much, as you said, but she didn’t become bitter. She’s stronger than anyone I know, me included. Way fucking stronger.”

Uncle stopped, and the pain in his voice was clear despite him trying his best to hide it. I glanced at him. To my surprise, his eyes didn’t look much different from mine, and I realised I really wasn’t feeling it all alone. To some level, he understood.

“She is strong... but I don’t want to pity her. She won’t like it. I just wish I could give her every fucking happiness she deserves,” I said quietly, staring up at the night sky. Uncle chuckled dryly.

“She definitely will get that; she got you, fucker. We all know you’re the perfect alpha, perfect man, and the fucking type that any woman would be lucky to have,” he said with a cold smirk. I scoffed.

“Seriously, Uncle, we all know you’re the lady killer.”

“Nah, what women see in me is fucking delusional. The idea of me is probably appealing, but living with me twenty-four fucking seven, and dealing with my shit is not easy. Kiara’s fucking stuck with me, but she deserved so much fucking better…”

“No shit,” I remarked. “Still, women are crazy over you.”

“Yeah, I’m the type that they want one night with, and you’re the type that they want fucking forever. So, let’s not do this shit. Our mates love us. That’s the most important part.” He smirked, and I nodded. Yeah, my kitten finally accepted me…

“Well, yeah, who wants to see that scary face,” I joked. We both smirked before we became sombre once again. “Why did you follow me?”

“Too much fucking noise back there, and people fucking love babies… I only enjoy the making babies part…” Uncle said, making me smirk slightly.

“Yeah, think we all like that part…”

Silence fell, and those painful memories filled my head. How many times had she suffered like that?

“Don’t keep it inside. That shit isn’t going to do anyone any good. Talk to her,” he said quietly.

“I don’t want her to know how I feel… she’s been through so much. I don’t want to add to her burden,” I said quietly, looking down at the ice in my glass.

“It’s not a burden,” Delsanra’s soft voice came from behind me.

 His Pain

 Delsanra

Iwas whisked around by Rose and Raihana, meeting different people. But I just wanted to sit in the corner and play with Dante and Azura Rayne. They were so cute. I was curious as to why Rayhan had abruptly turned and left, but Raihana assured me that he’d be back soon.

“So pwetty,” Dante said, holding my hand.

I looked down at him, wondering if he saw my demon form. I knew he held a lot of power, a power that was suppressed by an amulet given to Kiara and the King by Janaina, but I did wonder if he could see my real form way before we even knew of it.

“Thank you, my handsome little prince,” I replied. He gave me a small smile while holding my hand tightly.

“Oh, Rayhan would be so jealous.” Raihana laughed. I didn’t miss how her eyes kept flittering to Chris.

Just then, Alpha Marcel approached us.

 “Delsanra,” he said, smiling slightly.

 “Alpha Marcel.”

“Marcel is fine. Congratulations on everything you have accomplished,” he said.

“Thank you,” I said, brushing my hair back. “Did Leo not come? I don’t see him.” He frowned, and I could sense worry from him.

“Ah, no, you know how young boys just want to play, and they hate these types of parties. He didn’t want to come,” he said nonchalantly. I nodded, but there was only partial truth in his reply. I wondered what it was,but his next words made me forget everything. “But I brought someone else, a surprise for you…”
