“You won’t,” Mom said confidently before she passed her Skyla.

The only way I could tell them apart was by the hair. Babies all look the same to me. She cradled her, holding her very carefully, kissing her forehead softly.

“She’s gorgeous, and I love the names. She looks just like you, Kiara,” Delsanra said, looking at Kiara.

“Thanks,” Kiara replied with a small smile.

“They do! No Uncle in them,” Raihana agreed, taking Kataleya from Aunty Red.

“It’s nice to meet you, Delsanra,” Aunty Red said, making Delsanra freeze as she looked at the woman before her.

I smiled slightly, watching them. Both women had suffered, yet both remained strong. I knew my kitten had been through so much, but abuse was abuse. Both women were fighters.

“Nice to meet you, too, Luna Scarlett. Kiara’s mom, isn’t it?” Delsanra replied with a small smile.

“It is, it’s an honour to meet you,” Aunty Red said as Uncle El stepped forward.

“Nice to meet you, Delsanra. I’ve heard a lot about you,” he said, reaching over and rubbing the back of her head before doing the same to Raihana. I smirked,Old man.

“Alpha Elijah… you look like your son,” Delsanra said, gently rocking the baby in her arms.

My stomach knotted, and I knew that when the time came, she’d make an amazing mom. We would have pups… but only if she wanted them. If she didn’t, that was fine too, because she had been through hell, and I was not going to push her into anything she didn’t want.

“More like he looks like me. I’m surprised you saw him, he doesn’t really mix,” Uncle El said, frowning deeply.

“Not now, baby,” Aunty Red murmured, turning and kissing his lips.

“Hmm,” Uncle El hummed in agreement.

“Aww, let’s get selfies with the babies! I finally have girl cousins!” Raihana was saying.

“Yeah, nothing special there,” Uncle Al grumbled.

“Why? Worried they’re going to meet mates like you?” Uncle El asked arrogantly.

“They ain’t getting mates,” Uncle shot back. Kiara sighed as Mom and Aunty Red smiled.

“Karma is a bitch,” Uncle El said cockily, taking a glass of wine from a passing waiter.

“Well, I’m sure their mates will be lovely… but they are only a few weeks, handsome,” Kiara added.

Delsanra walked over to me with Skyla and looked up at me, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

“Look how adorable she is. It’s the first time I’m holding a baby,” she said, looking up at me. My chest tightened painfully. First time?

She seemed to get my confusion and gave me that smile of hers that I could see right through.

“Back at the Coven, I wasn’t allowed near any of the children, even when Ames was little…” she said, looking down at Skyla.

I stepped back, feeling my resolve crack. My heart was threatening to break, and it was taking my all to keep myself together. The cheerful chatter, the upbeat music, the children laughing… nothing helped.

“Excuse me, I need to make a call…” I said, turning away.

My eyes stung, but I knew I couldn’t break down in front of her. I turned and walked off, away from the party and commotion, through the crowds, needing to be alone. Her words echoed in my head, and they hurt, so fucking much…

I walked around to the front, over to the fountain that sat there. I sat down on the stone edge, my head hanging as I took a deep breath.

How much had she missed out on in life? Things we take for granted... something as simple as carrying a child. Fuck, I hated how much she had suffered! I wished I could do more! If I could, I’d turn back time for her.
