I didn’t understand. I could feel his pain, his anguish, and his anger... but... I realised it was about the pain he was feeling too. What hurts one mate affects the other...

He didn’t stop, punching the man repeatedly. Blood covered his hand, but he didn’t relent until the man was almost unconscious. He tossed him aside and grabbed the next one.

I couldn’t look anymore. I covered my mouth, scanning the room. If that was what he was doing to the ones who regretted their actions and were forced…

“Please, Rayhan!” I cried out suddenly.

“It is only a sliver of what you went through at their hands, Kitten. They’ll heal,” he said, his voice low yet ice cold. He didn’t stop beating each of the ones whom I considered victims too.

“Please, Rayhan, stop it,” I begged, running over to him, but stopped when a few of the men looked at me. My heart thundered, and I backed away. I hated how they still had that effect on me, at how terrified I was by just being in their presence… I was still weaker…

“It’s okay, Kitten, they will be let off after one small beating. You were only a fucking child. Compelled or not, you were fucking hurt,” he said. One of the older men nodded.

“He is right… this will make me feel better too, even if it isn’t enough,” he said gravely.

I didn’t understand them, but one thing I realised was that there were more werewolves out there who regretted hurting a witch than I ever thought possible.

“But then what’s the difference between us? Just the ones that feel guilty, please let them go,” I whispered, bravely gripping his sleeve. His blazing eyes met mine, and he frowned deeply, his thick brows knotting together before he glared at the few men left.

“Apologise to her and get the fuck out of my sight,” he growled. The older man who had spoken looked at me and smiled sadly.

“I’m glad you are in a better place, with a mate who will protect you and get you the justice you deserve,” he said. “I am glad you are looking better.” Rayhan’s cold glare was fixed on him, but the man looked at me. “Do you remember Jo? She always talks about you, although she’s moved to Wales now with her mate. She will be glad you are alive.” My heart thudded. Jo... wasn’t she the girl who turned into a wendigo?

He was about to move on when I grabbed his arm.

“Wait… do you have her number?” I asked, my heart racing.

“I don’t, but I’m sure the Alpha can get it,” he said, his eyes crinkling. I smiled and nodded. “Thank you, and don’t feel guilty. We were all victims of Endora,” he said, patting my hand before moving on.

The other five apologised before leaving the room. Rayhan glared at the rest, his hands dripping with blood, his fists clenched. I knew that many in this room were going to feel immense pain…

“Throw the rest into the fucking cells. I’m dealing with this shit myself.”

My heart pounded as I looked at him. He held out a hand, and one of the warriors stepped forward, quickly passing him a towel. He wiped the blood from his hands and looked at Marcel.

“I’ll deal with them in a few hours.”

Marcel nodded deeply. Rayhan walked over to me, and I closed the gap between us, running into his armsand wrapping my arms around his waist, tightening my hold. I needed him.

“Come on…” he murmured, wrapping his arms around me. He kissed the top of my head. I inhaled his scent, trying to ignore the smell of blood that was tainting it. He led me from the room and kissed my forehead again.

“You were brave, Kitten.”

I looked up at him. I knew he wanted me there to face those people and to know that they would never hurt me again. Looking back at the open door… I realised that I really was no longer alone. I had my alpha.

The Cold Alpha

Rayhan

Ihated to see her close in on herself, seeing that vulnerable side of her show through when she faced those wolves. She was strong, and sometimes the fact that she had suffered so much could be forgotten considering how she behaved… but seeing her like that reminded me that she had been to hell and back. I was not going to let them get off so easily.

I didn’t miss how one of the guards had stepped forward, and once I sent Delsanra to safety, I was going to make sure Marcel questioned all his people. I didn’t want to have any getting away with it.

As for those in the cells, I didn’t think there were many who would make it out alive… if any.

I also knew I couldn’t leave her alone when she was like that, so I had already thought ahead. I had a feeling she may not want to see it happen, and I wasn’t going to let her out of my sight on this pack’s ground.

“Kitten, whilst I deal with those men, I’m going to send you with a close friend of mine. He will take you to the closest town, all right?” I said, caressing her hair.
