“That’s right.” I nodded. “My last name is Pierce, in case you want to give my full name to whoever you’re talking to.”

If what I said bothered her, Georgia didn’t show it. “What do you want, Ravi?”

I wanted Issac to hurry the fuck up and claim her so that I could get on with my life. But that wasn’t going to happen without a little bit of persuasion.

Lifting my arm, I held up her bag and let it dangle from my hand. “I thought you might want this back.”

“Hang on, Mom,” she uttered into the phone before eyeing me. “Is this a trick?”

“Calm down, there’s no ulterior motive.” None that she needed to know about anyway. “Consider it a peace offering.”

Shedidn’t trust me. Like I said, she was smart. But intelligence didn’t mean shit without instincts. Some of the brightest people I’d met were the easiest to play. While LittleMiss Sunshine might be cautious, she couldn’t spot a setup if it smacked her in the face.

Georgia eyed me for a second before slowly inching closer.

I watched her feet shuffle over the hardwood floor and thought about jarring my shoulder forward to see how far back she’d jump. But that would defeat the purpose of coming here.

When Georgia reached out to grab the bag, Rachel bellowed, “Don’t trust him.”

Fucking bitch. I’d deal with her later.

Gritting my teeth, I sucked back my annoyance and sighed at Georgia, “Do you want it or not?”

Rachel shook her head in warning, and for a minute, I thought Georgia might back away. But she didn’t.

“Stop overreacting.” Georgia rolled her eyes at Rachel and snatched the bag from my hand. “It’s just a bag, Rachel.”

“Yeah, Rachel,” I smiled back at her. “It’s just a bag.”

Little did she know it was so much more than that. It was the first seed of friendship. Georgia could hate Issac—he’d make sure of that. But if she trusted me… Now, that would really piss Issac off.

Issac

Slater had better be square with his brother because I was going to fucking kill Ravi.

I’d break his fingers for taking Georgia’s purse alone—that shit was mine—then the motherfucker had the nerve to try and bait me into going to Craven House.

Ravi wasn’t as sly as he thought he was. He figured he’d get me in the same proximity as Georgia, and I’d fall in line. Who the fuck did he think I was? Levi? I had better control than that.

Georgia could strip naked in front of me, and I’d still walk away. My father and Ravi couldn’t manipulate me into shit.I’d claim her when I was damn well ready. Kicking Ravi’s ass, however… That I’d do right now.

My fist swung through the air whenthe front door opened. As Ravi stepped out, I clocked him in thejaw so hard that his head snapped sideways.

“Motherfucker,” I growled as he stumbled back and caught himself on the doorframe.

He didn’t think I’d come down here, with hisI’m at Craven House, come get me bitch. Fucking bastard. I’d get him alright.

Steeping forward, I grabbed the collar of his shirt and hissed, “Who’s the bitch now?”

Ravi grinned at me, displaying his bloody teeth like I brought him a goddamn present. “Well, shit. You actually came.”

Really?

“Laugh it up, chuckles.” I drove my fist into his gut and felt the air leave his lungs as he folded in two. “Not so fucking funny now, is it?”

And what did Ravi do? He fucking laughed.

I cocked my arm back to hit him again when Georgia’s voice cut through the air like a broken alarm. “Issac, stop it!”
