“Micha–” I was cut off when my brother’s dark glare snapped to mine.

“You wanna play this game, Mase?” He stepped forward and gave me a shove. “Come on, then. Hit me again, asshole!”

When I didn’t respond, he shoved me again, which was not helping me calm my mood any.

“Stop it, Micha.” He needed to back the fuck off before this shit got out of hand.

“Fuck you, Mase.”

Another shove.

“You started this shit.”

Another shove.

I balled my fists and gritted my teeth. “I mean it, Micha. Fuck off.”

But my big brother didn’t stop.

“What’s wrong? Can’t pick on someone your own size?” He reached out and slapped the side of my face.

That’s when I lost it.

My fist swung as I lunged to vent my anger on my brother. Our size difference didn’t mean shit to Micha. We’d been fighting each other for years. He took every hit I landed and returned it with one of his own.

I don’t know who knocked who on the ground first, but the first time someone tried to pull us apart, I was on top. Throwing my fists down in a fury of wrath. The second time, it was Micha who had me down. By the time we were pulled apart, both Micha and I had swollen jaws and blood running down our skin.

“Fuck you, Micha.” I threw my elbow back at Silas–who was trying to hold me back–and snarled, “This is none of your business.”

Micha wasn’t ready to give up either. He lunged at me, but Logan pulled him back.

“Eat shit, Mase. You made it my business when you threatened my girl.”

He needed to chill out. That was barely even a threat.

“Micha, calm down,” Logan tugged back on his shirt collar. “You know how worked up he gets about this shit.”

I had every right to get worked up. Micha knew that better than anyone.

“Yeah, Micha,” I shot him a smirk while struggling against Silas’s hold. “Listen to your friend.”

That got to him.

Micha’s eyes darkened as he stilled and glared back at me.

“You know what, Mase, fuck you.” He roughly yanked out of Logan’s grasp. “You want to destroy yourself, go right ahead. I’m tired of cleaning up your messes.”

Logan stepped up and put his hand on Micha’s shoulder. “Micha…”

“Oh, shut the fuck up Logan.” Micha glanced over his shoulder and shrugged away. “Stop fucking coddling him.”

I’d seen my brother pissed. Hell, half my childhood was spent fucking with him. But the way he was looking at me right now… That was the darkest I’d ever seen him look.

“Here’s an idea, Mase,” Micha charged forward with his chest puffed up. “Why don’t you grow the fuck up and take some goddamn responsibility for once in your life.”

What exactly did he want me to take responsibility for? The lies everyone told me growing up, or being betrayed by someone I thought loved me as much as I loved her? This was the exact same bullshit speech I got from Lou.

“You sound like your old man.”
