No.

Apparently my feet didn’t agree with my silent protest, because next thing I knew, my legs were carrying me over to him.

When I stood in front of him, I was reminded how much bigger he was. I had to crane my neck just to see his face.

“What?” I snarled, though a better question was why didn’t it bother me to look him in the eyes? I hid from everyone at home, but didn’t think twice about meeting his gaze.

“Careful,Pulsante, I’m in a good mood.” He gave me a stern look, “Don’t ruin it.”

Guilt welled up inside me, and then anger. Why should I feel bad for snapping at him?

This time, when he lifted his hand to sweep his thumb along my jawline, I didn’t shy away from his touch. I leaned into it, enjoying the way my skin sparked. Which only confused me further.

What the hell was wrong with me?

“You look beautiful today, Pet.” His gaze darkened as he leaned in and whispered, “I can’t wait to undress you.”

Desperate for a change in subject, I stepped back and said, “Is Tobias your brother?”

“Why are you asking…” He stopped and eyed the braid slung over my shoulder. “Stay away from Tobias.”

Guess he really didn’t like braids.

“In fact, stay away from Liam too.”

“You’re the one that brought me here,” I snarled.

I had enough of being controlled like a child. What the hell was I supposed to do? Hide in that room for the rest of my life? I may not have had the happiest home life, but at least I had some freedom there.

“I didn’t ask to come to the house of sin.”

Lorenzo puffed his chest out and stepped in. “Watch your tone, Pet.”

No. I was so done with his shit.

“It’s pretty sad when you don’t trust the people around you.”

I knew this first hand, and I only had a couple people to worry about. God knows how many were here. I saw a couple of guards walking around earlier.

They had earpieces in their ears and guns strapped to their hips, so I thought they were guards. For all I knew, they were serial killers. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised.

“You should pay more attention to the people you let walk around your home.” My finger jabbed him in the chest, “I might not be the only one who’d stab you in the back.”

I was literally poking the bear. I knew that. I just didn’t care.

Lorenzo opened his mouth to say something, but cocked his head instead. I watched his brow rise in contemplation and wondered what he was thinking about.

“Lunch is waiting for you in our room.”

I crossed my arms. “I’m not hungry.”

“Eat it, Pet.” he said and spun on his heels, leaving as quickly as he came. “And take that fucking braid out of your hair.”

Fuck him. I was going to braid my hair every goddamn day.

“Motherfucker.” I slammed my fist on my desk.

I’d been pouring through files and footage searching for the traitor, and the answer had been staring me in the face. It was Kya’s smart mouth remark about watching people in my home that led me here.
