Like something’s missing?
Maeve glances over her shoulder and our eyes meet, and in an instant, it hits me.
My entire life is business deal after business deal and that’s how Maeve and I have reunited. But with everything I’ve learned, my feelings for Maeve are returning stronger than ever.
I don’t want her to be just a deal anymore.
I want her. All of her.
And I don’t plan on ever letting her go again.

MAEVE
“Maeve…” Levi’s low tone carries an alluring hint of warning.
He stands in the doorway to my room looking utterly drop-dead gorgeous, and he has the cheek to try and warn me as if I’m the problem.
Ridiculous.
Levi’s shirt is halfway unbuttoned down to the top of his abs which peek out, highlighted by the shadows caressing his skin. His undone tie drapes over his shoulder underneath his upright collar, and his perfectly gorgeous, thick hair has lost all its neatness from how often I dragged my hands through it in the elevator.
“Levi,” I say with the same warning inflection he put on my own name but with a little more pouting.
“You’ve had too much to drink. You need to shower and get some rest.”
“Don’t tell me what to do, and actually…” I cross my arms over my chest and stick out my lower lip. “You drank more than me!”
“Were you keeping track?”
“Obviously.”
“Should I be concerned?”
“Only by your mother’s ability to ply me with sweet-tasting cocktails that taste as good as a morning smoothie.”
“She’s talented.”
“Mmhmm.”
“But when you call me through here for an emergency, it sets expectations.” Levi slowly leans to the side until he’s resting against the door frame. He mimics me and crosses his arms, which accentuates the deepness between his pecs, and my core clenches tightly.
“I do have an emergency,” I insist, and my balance tips slightly as I stomp toward him. “You rushed in here ready to kill someone, did you?”
Levi arches one brow. “You called, I came.”
“Well then, help me.” My pout deepens as I approach him lazily until I’m standing a foot away staring up into his honey-cold eyes. “Or are you all talk?”
Levi’s head tilts slightly and his eyes grow lidded as he watches me. “You’re playing a dangerous game.”
“Am I?” Feigning innocence, I step closer and rest my hand on his crossed forearms. The warmth radiating from him is almost overwhelming with how deep the urge inside me grows to be wrapped up in those arms.
During the party, he was my anchor and my distraction. Everyone who came to talk to us, everyone who had a million questions, even when his mother was all but telling me how the wedding next month was going to be, half my attention was on Levi. His smile that only lit up and felt real when our eyes would be, his gentle but firm tone when he spoke to me, the way he’d constantly touch my elbow or my hand to reassure me he was there.
Maybe it is the alcohol but as the night went on, everything about him that drew me in amplified until the only thing on my mind was how good his cock was going to feel inside me. And now he’s playing hard to get.
Should I be happy he’s being a gentleman? Or does he think he can make me break?
