Blair and I have so many dreams for that place, and my pack is able to make those dreams come true for us.
We can expand the playroom and make space for many more cats that need our help.
We’ll have the health clinic next door to us, too.
“I want Blair to own it with me,” I say finally. “Co-owners.”
Poe nods. “We can make that happen.”
He says it as if it’s not a big deal.
Like he hasn’t just made everything I’ve ever wanted come to fruition.
“We’ll be there, too,” Avery adds. “Whenever we can, we will help out, Piper.”
I swallow the lump in my throat.
Now that our mating bond is in place, I can sense the love and adoration they have for me.
It’s still overwhelming in moments like these, but I’m starting to enjoy it.
I’ll never have miserable Heats spent alone in my apartment.
I have a family now, arealone, in a home where I’m safe to be myself.
A place where I can have bad days and still be loved unconditionally.
I’ll never be alone again.
I lean against Poe, and he presses a gentle kiss to the top of my head.
“We love you, Piper,” he murmurs. “Let’s go save some cats tomorrow.”
I look up at Mister Whiskers, waiting for his usual hiss.
Instead, he winks at me.
EPILOGUE
MISTER WHISKERS
I’ve decidedI like this place.
It’s bigger and better than my old one, where I had to deal with a bunch of cats I couldn’t stand.
Kittens are obnoxious. They yell all the time, meowing and demanding they be held.
I also had to deal with way too many humans making weird faces at me and trying to pet me.
No, I don’t want your treat.
No, I don’t want to chase your fake mouse.
Ugh.
In my new home, I can perch as high as I want and judge the others from the safety of my towers.
Dad is my favorite person here. He smells like ‘nip, like the plants he likes to grow for me. He’s warm and comfy and doesn’t go out of his way to try to pet me too much.
