“Me too. My poor dragon has waited far too long to be freed.” All my life I’d dreamed of soaring through the clouds, the wind whispering along my scales. Twisting and turning midair while flying with friends. Then, when it didn’t happen, and no friends were ever made, I gave up the dream and sunk deeper into despair.
The way dragons depicted flight throughout the centuries was one of therapy. A releasing of that which held them back. A freedom like no other. That was the word most used. Now I’d finally get to experience that. No longer shackled by the life others had tried to force me into, then cast me aside when I didn’t conform.
I was a new man.
A new dragon.
Newly mated.
Well, almost.
“Come, Emerson. It’s time for bed. The others will be here bright and early. We have a busy day ahead of us, so a good night’s rest is in order.”
To start our new life, dragon.
I stood beside the bed as Caro turned the sheets down, glancing between him and the familiar linens. Shoot, when had I last washed them? How in the world was this giant man to fit on this small bed?
“Remember Emerson, nothing happens that you don’t want to. Understood?”
“Yes. But that wasn’t what puzzled me.”
“What was it then?”
“I wondered how in the world you’d fit on this tiny bed.” It was a standard queen size though Caro wasn’t a standard male by any means.
“It’s just for a night. We’ll make do.”
Caro lay down first. Never having shared a bed with another, and being unfamiliar with the rules, I kept to the edge of the mattress and straight as an arrow, so as not to encroach upon his side.
“Emerson, this isn’t a sleepover with friends. Come here.” Caro stretched his arm out, and as I drew near he wrapped it around me and pulled me against him. The only place for my head was on his chest. His very…firm, muscular chest. “There, Isn’t that better?”
What do I say? Yeah, this is great. Please don’t mind my erection poking your leg?
Seriously. There are no words for a sexy, yet uncomfortable, situation.
My hands were trapped between our bodies.
What happens if this triggers…
Shit.
I knew as well as Caro did that once mates were in close proximity it um, moved things along for them. And while we’d been near one another on many occasions it was while my dragon hid. Now with all the planets and dragons aligned…
Double shit.
No. No. No. No.
Slick ran between my thighs. Though I tightly clenched them, it did nothing keep it contained.
“Emerson.” The deep timbre in Caro’s voice alluded to the fact he knew.
“I’ll um, I’ll go sleep on the couch.”
“You’ll do no such thing. Just tell me what you need and what the boundaries are. Not going to lie, your scent is like no other and I’m ready to devour you.”
“Eeep! Don’t eat me.”
“Not in the literal sense. The only thing holding me back from burying my face in that sweet ass of yours is consent.”
