“She’s got the virus,” a voice she didn’t recognize said. “Leave now. I won’t warn you again.”

Who’s got a virus? What did her father do now?

“Not a virus. She’s been separated from her blood-bonded mate and isn’t handling it well. She’s human. Find your balls and scent her if you don’t believe me.”

She wanted to laugh. Rafe didn’t take shit from anyone, even in her dreams.

“It’s okay, babe. Just rest. We’ll take care of everything,” Tiernan’s smooth voice reassured as his hand stroked her cheek and then her arm. Damn jacket was in the way. She’d rather feel his hand on her skin. She loved the way he touched her. So gentle and loving.

“I’m not going near her,” that same male said. “And if you don’t leave, you’ll regret it.”

“I’m still a part of this pack,” Tiernan snapped.

Her poor Tiernan wanted the bond with her so desperately. Such a gentle soul. It took a lot to make him mad, and right now she could not only hear the anger in his voice, she could feel it. Was that because of the bond? God, she hoped so.

“Of course, you’re still part of our pack, Tiernan. But they aren’t,” the male said, a growl riding his words.

“Get my brother,” Tiernan demanded.

“You don’t give orders here.”

“You either fucking let me take her to my cabin where she can recover, or I’ll rip your balls off right here,” Tiernan threatened.

No, that couldn’t be her Tiernan. She’d never heard him threaten anyone. Rafe or Maddox would threaten someone in a heartbeat, but not Tiernan.

Maddox had stayed behind.

A stab of pain made her cry out. Two hands clamped down around her arms as her body convulsed.

“Shh, precious. We’ve got you.”

What the hell was happening? Alyssa forced her eyes open. Never had she felt so bruised and beat up on the inside. Though she had to admit she felt warm and comfy on the outside, with a wonderful scent—scents—surrounding her like a cozy cocoon.

Soft lips pressed against her forehead. It took some squirming, but she tipped her head back. And saw brilliant green eyes watching her. Now she understood that hardness against her cheek. Rafe was carrying her. Just beyond Rafe stood Tiernan, anger filling his handsome face.

“How are you feeling, babe?” Tiernan asked, brushing sweat-soaked hair off her brow.

“Cold. Really cold.”

“You have a fever.” The back of his hand pressed against her forehead. “Not as high as earlier. You’ve been in and out of consciousness.”

“We’re in Greyson territory. Tiernan’s pack,” Rafe added. “You need a place to rest, out of the icy wind.”

Her eyes grew heavy.

“Sleep, babe. My brother will be here soon. He’ll tell these asshole guards to let us enter, and then I’ll take you to my cabin to rest.”

“I don’t think the guards believed me,” Rafe whispered. “They think it’s the shifter virus. If they’d just fucking scent her, they’d know she’s human and couldn’t be carrying the virus.”

“They’re too afraid to scent her. And telling them that this is from a blood-bond just created more doubt, like we were desperate to get past them.”

“We are. She needs to warm up properly.”

“I know, but no one’s ever seen a reaction like this to a blood-bond,” Tiernan replied.

“I didn’t know what to say, okay? I’m worried about her and don’t have the patience to deal with idiot guards right now. What the fuck is their problem, anyway? They’ve all been vaccinated against SEV at this point, haven’t they?”

“Yes,” Tiernan confirmed.
