“Why are you here, Zev? If you can’t stay, then why torment me by returning?”

His lips found hers as he cupped her head. His tongue stroked her slowly, languidly, flaming a fire for him that had never extinguished. She let her question fall away as he lifted her shirt over her head. He kissed his way down one shoulder, taking a bra strap with him as his hand worked the clasp in back.

“So this is why the guards took you from West Side,” Ivan said behind them.

Zev leaned his forehead against her chest and sighed. “I’d only hoped to have some privacy for a while.”

“We were looking everywhere, hounding Foley, the guards, everyone trying to figure out what was going on,” Jayce added, his voice full of anger.

Melina edged the bra strap into place. “Can we please not fight? Zev’s only here a little while.”

“Why are you here at all?” Ivan said. “You think you can pop in to fuck Melina when you damn well please and then leave again?”

“That’s not what he’s doing,” Melina said.

Zev cupped her face. “Don’t defend me. I’d be mad if I were in Ivan’s place.”

“Every time you leave, we have to watch her grieve,” Ivan scolded. “We have to pick up the pieces.”

“It’s not like I fall apart,” Melina protested.

Reece ran his hand over her stomach and then signed.

“You stopped eating?” Zev said, worry crossing his face as he turned to her.

“Not totally. I’m just not very hungry lately.”

“She’s lost weight and hasn’t been sleeping well because she hasn’t let go of you Zev,” Ivan explained.

“Why are you here?” Jayce finally asked.

“I missed her. I missed all of you.”

“Not good enough,” Ivan said. “You can’t pop back here and give her false hope.”

“Just her, Ivan? You sound rather upset for someone who didn’t want me in his unit at one point.”

“I am upset, Zev. You became a part of us, no matter how rocky a start we had. You’re like the annoying brother I never had.”

‘Jayce is annoying brother,’ Reece signed.

“Watch it, you big ape,” Jayce replied.

Ivan’s smile shifted. “Okay, technically he’s got me there. Jayce is the annoying little brother, but you’re the one who challenges me, Zev. You’re the one who pushes me when I need it, who keeps me from getting overconfident. We’ve been through too much together, and I don’t like losing men.”

“Family,” Melina reminded.

Ivan rolled his eyes. “Family.”

‘Not cute, Ivan,’ Reece signed. ‘Melina rolls eyes. Cute.’

“Shut the fuck up, Reece!” Ivan nodded his head toward Reece. “See what you left me with, Zev.Twoannoying brothers. I could use someone to take the pressure off.”

“I want to stay, Ivan. If you’ll let me,” Zev said.

Melina threw her arms around him. “That’s wonderful!”

“Can you?” Ivan asked. “Seriously, Zev, don’t be screwing with her, with us.”
