This is where she got herself confused about how much she should and shouldn’t say. She didn’t want to divulge private moments with the other men, especially when they risked creating bigger issues. While she loved all her men, her interactions, her relationship with each was unique. Ky’Li, above all else, was her protector. If for even one second he thought Vaughn or anyone else had hurt her, he’d rise to her defense.
“What Vaughn and I have is different.”
She didn’t want to tell Ky’Li that Vaughn had tried to use sex to force her into revealing her attacker’s name. When she’d failed to tell him it was her coworker Max who’d attacked her, Vaughn’s frustrations and insecurities had taken hold of him, and he’d used sex to punish her for endangering herself with her silence. Vaughn, the doctor who appeared to be the most stable of anyone on Narkos, was broken, confused, and unsure of his worth.
She was still figuring out her relationship with him, with each of the men in fact. Ky’Li was certainly the most stable of the four men, but that was probably because he’d just arrived with her, less than two months ago. Vaughn had been stuck on Narkos for eight years, Sersie seven, and Ren the longest, at twelve years despite The Company’s maximum of ten-year terms. This planet, this colony of Level 4s and 5s changed people.
“I appreciate and love you for who you are, Ky. Never change,” she said as she caressed his clean-shaven cheek. He never skipped a day of shaving; facial hair was an affront to his gods. Her soldier had faith and honor and she worried about the toll working in the mines would take on him, but not as much as the stress of knowing she slept with other men.
Before he could say anything, she kissed him and smiled.
“I love when you smile, sha’vi. It tells me I’ve done my job.”
“Oh, sleeping with me is work, is it?” she teased, as she pumped on and off of him with short rapid stroked.
“Hardly,” he said, rolling her back under him and sliding into her in one seamless motion.
She giggled, loving how protected and loved she felt when he filled her with such ease, such tenderness, such completeness.
He raised a brow. “Laughing at me could shatter my confidence.”
“Just feeling happy,” she said as he pumped harder. She’d needed this time with him, a chance to simply be and enjoy, to reconnect.
As another orgasm began to build in her, doors banged open and closed elsewhere in the house. Then, someone knocked on the door. “Are you in there with Ky’Li, Hannah?” Vaughn asked. He sounded anxious.
She couldn’t answer him, not while Ky’Li was moving in her, not while his lips sealed over her. Ky’Li lifted himself on his arms and looked down where their bodies met, even as he slid in and out of her. “This, sha-vi. This is right.”
At that moment, another orgasm ripped through her. Her muscles gripped his cock, drawing out his own orgasm. His seed filled her as his face beamed full of joy. She’d never seen a more beautiful sight.
That’s when she realized Vaughn had stopped calling her name and that she’d blocked out all thought of him, focusing only on Ky’Li. It felt as if a weight had been lifted, knowing she could give something Ky’Li needed and deserved. Her total devotion, even if for a short while.
“Hannah?” Vaughn called out again, though his voice seemed distant. He no longer stood by the door.
“It sounds urgent, Ky. I should go see what he needs.”
Ky’Li’s mouth captured hers. The kiss was deep, powerful, and arousing. She smiled again. Twice in an hour. . . for what felt like the first time in weeks.
“Go,” Ky’Li said as he rose from the bed. He stood there, completely naked, muscles covering his entire torso and his cock glistening and already getting hard again. “Keep looking at me like that, sha-vi, and I will not give you this opportunity to see what Vaughn needs.”
She grabbed Ky’Li’s t-shirt off the floor and slipped it on over her head. “My dress is still in the bathroom,” she explained.
“You belong in my clothes.” Ky’Li grinned. “When you’re not in my bed.”
“Hold that thought,” she smirked as she headed into the common room.
Hannah nearly gasped when she spotted Vaughn. He wore rumpled, stained clothing, and he hadn’t trimmed his slight beard or combed his hair. She doubted he’d showered in days. What’s more, he paced. Vaughn never paced.
“Vaughn?” Words escaped her. The way his blue eyes turned icy and his posture straightened at the sound of her voice, she knew something was wrong.
“I messed up. Twice. I can’t fix it, Hannah.”
The softness returned to his eyes. Vaughn was pleading for help. “What happened, Vaughn? Tell me and—”
“No,” Vaughn snapped as she took a step closer to him. His eyes ran over her, assessing the shirt, and then they moved to her left. Ky’Li had entered, clad only in pants. Without another word, Vaughn bolted out of the house.
“I could go after him,” Ky suggested, which warmed her heart. He cared about Vaughn, at least enough to offer.
“I think you’re the reason he left.”
