“Just fuck me already,” she said, her voice strangled and unsteady.

Scared. He’d scared her. He’d only meant. . . Fuck, he didn’t know what he’d meant. She had him horny and mad, and he’d unleashed his anger on her.

He was no better than whoever had attacked her.

“Fuck me already. Get it over with!”

His forehead dropped against her back. “I’m no good, Hannah. I don’t belong in a unit. Dresden’s changed me, and there’s no fixing me. You need to run, get as far from me as you can. Tell Ren to strip my access from the security system. Lock me out completely.”

“I need you, Vaughn,” her whisper caressed him in a way he didn’t deserve. “Just finish, okay. I won’t fight you.”

Despite her words, he could feel her body shaking. He backed away, smoothed a hand down the knots of her spine. “You were attacked. Why would you lie about that? Why would you let me fuck you if you don’t want it?”

“Because you need to punish someone.”

Punish? His palm molded to the swell of her ass. The feel of her warm flesh beneath his hands was divine, and he wanted nothing more than to be inside her, to feel her warm heat around his cock, to find his release as she screamed his name. . . to lose himself for a few minutes.

“I don’t want to punish you,” he whispered as he backed away, and slumped against the edge of the bed.

“This isn’t you, Vaughn,” she said, holding the t-shirt out to him.

He grabbed it from her. “How the hell do you know who I am? I don’t even know who I am anymore!”

Graceful fingers splayed across his biceps. “I know what I see in you. You’re full of compassion, but you’re resentful too. Vance. . . Sersie. You see them as the same person. You lash out at Sersie because Vance isn’t here.”

“Vance is dead.”

She fell silent. She understood what it meant to lose a sibling, to no longer have him there to confront, let alone ever have a chance of saving. A chance he’d thrown away when he’d left home, left Vance to the incapable hands of his family who didn’t care about either of them.

“You can’t unload your anger on him, or tell him how he hurt you. I get it. I felt that way toward Amelia. Still do, sometimes. You have to let it go, Vaughn, or it will eat you alive.”

It wasn’t that simple. This went beyond Vance. She couldn’t understand what he’d become since he’d arrived here.

“You wanted me in this unit, now you have me. But I don’t respond well to being ignored and I can’t—won’t—stand by and watch you risk yourself or me.”

She didn’t know what the men of this cursed planet would do to her here if they caught her alone. She didn’t know what awaited her. She was right about one thing. Vaughn and the others in their unit were responsible for one another now, which meant she’d learn to submit to him, tell him everything he needed. Or he wouldn’t be able to protect her for what he knew was coming.

HANNAH

Hannah didn’t understand what had happened. Vaughn had gone from sweet and gentle to controlling, almost punishingly so. She could feel the duality in him. He’d gagged her with no remorse, and yet he couldn’t bring himself to bind her arms. Then he’d released her, allowing her to remove the gag. She could have run, or called for help, except there was no reason to run. Vaughn wouldn’t hurt her. It wasn’t in him to do so.

He’d finally opened up to her, though his words had shocked her. How could he not know who he was? The man was everything good and light on Narkos, despite the band of darkness running through him.

Vaughn had been a solitary and from what she’d seen of Narkos so far, being alone wasn’t easy, physically or emotionally. To have no one to rely on, to trust, to talk to even? She couldn’t imagine surviving that. Even when Amelia had been drugged out of her mind half the time, making Hannah crazy with worry, her sister had always had a smile for her, a hug even on a good day. They’d been sisters up until the end.

Vaughn spun her around so unexpectedly her breath caught at the sudden motion. He folded her over the side of the bed, holding both of her arms behind her with one of his hands. He gripped her above her wrists, careful not to aggravate her injury.

“Is this how you want me to fuck you? Restrained and helpless?”

Helpless implied being with someone who would harm her, who wouldn’t watch out for her, and Vaughn was neither of those.

He kicked her legs apart, spreading her open for him. She yelled out in surprise as he pressed her into the bed with his body as his cock slid through her folds. Maybe she was wrong about him. . . maybe he didn’t care. Her muffled scream hadn’t given him pause, not one bit. Max had trapped her too. A flurry of fear rushed through her. In that moment of panic, she pushed against Vaughn, trying to throw him off of her.

His hard cock thrust into her, shocking her. She gasped, as he pulled out and thrust again, harder this time. She could barely catch her breath as he unleashed himself in a punishing pace, impaling her over and over again. Her walls began to seize, the orgasm rising too quickly, then he leaned forward, his lips to her ears.

“I won’t ever let another man touch you. I don’t care about Ky’Li or those in our unit. You’re theirs as much as mine, and they’ll be good for you. They’ll watch over you when I’m not here. We will put rules in place, to ensure your safety, and you will obey.”
