Ky’Li laved one nipple while rolling the other between his fingers, sending the most exquisite pleasure to her core. She lifted her hips, pressing against his heavy cock.

“You want me, don’t you, sha’vi?”

“You make it sound so easy.”

“It is easy. One man, one woman.”

She would have risen from the bed, walked away right there, except he wasn’t wrong. She wanted him in her heart, in her body, in her soul. His tongue circling her navel, heading lower, leaving her unable, unwilling, to step away from him.

He placed tender kissing the length of her thigh and then her leg. She opened to him. It felt natural with Ky’Li, in a different way than with Vaughn. Ky was open and straightforward, not broken like Vaughn, but she sensed in him a need as deep as Vaughn’s.

“Why are you here, Ky?”

“This bed was bigger for two.”

“No, I mean on Narkos. You’re not one to break the law.”

He harrumphed. “You may not approve, sha’vi.”

“I’m not here to judge you, but I want to understand you.”

“I deserted my squad.”

That shocked her. He must have heard her slight intake of breath for he lifted his head. Gray eyes waited, worried that she’d reject him.

“Why?” she asked in a whisper.

“They were not honorable men.”

“I’m sorry, Ky. You deserve honor.”

“You honor me, sha’vi. That is enough.”

He kissed the inside of her thigh before running a finger through her folds. Her very wet folds. The desire to feel his weight pressing her into the bed as he entered her awakened every part of her body, but she couldn’t allow lust to drive her relationship with Ky. She needed to understand the warrior that protected her, that stood by her even after she’d betrayed him.

“What did they do?”

“It’s done. In the past. But as you can see, I am not meant to be in a unit.”

Is that why he’d resisted the idea from the start? “Nonsense.”

He quirked a brow. “You doubt me?”

“I doubt your ability to be objective in this matter. You belong in this unit, Ky. With me. With them.”

“Those men out there fear me.”

She sat up on her elbows and lowered her legs. “They’re cautious. They’ve never been part of a unit. They’re finding their footing. We all are.”

“You cannot be a peacemaker between parties who do not desire peace.” He laid a splayed hand against her chest and gently pushed her flat onto the bed.

She propped herself back up on her elbows. “And you should not condemn others based on the actions of your squad. Maybe your squad never cared about you.”

“My squad would have died for me. I was the one who abandoned them.” His face hardened again until she leaned forward and captured his mouth once more.

Ky poured his heart into that kiss, consuming her with a roughness he’d never shown before. There was an anger to him, not unlike what she saw in the others. After he consumed her mouth, he tore away, leaving her lips feeling raw.

“You are my weakness, sha’vi.”
