“As if that was in question. . .”
His grin blew her away. How could she possibly doubt his love for her?
After another steamy kiss, Frank took her hand and they headed to Tess and Damien’s house. The window that Delilah had crashed through a few hours before was boarded up with ply-wood. Though the house was quiet, the lights were on downstairs.
Delilah tensed.
“It will be fine. She’s your sister,” Frank said, as he gave her hand a slight squeeze and knocked on the door. “And I’m here with you.”
“You speak as if you’ve had siblings.”
“Blade, Callen, Pryce, Hayden. They’re my brothers. Not by blood, but fighting alongside one another, depending on one another for your life, is an unbreakable bond just like having a sibling, even stronger in some cases. No matter how much we get on each other’s nerves, we’re always there for each other when it counts.”
He hadn’t included Damien in that list. Frank had yet to make his peace with his alpha.
The door swung open. Tess was standing there, waiting by the door. The worried look on her face disappeared as she threw her arms around Delilah.
As far as bear hugs went, Delilah had to admit, this one was pretty damn nice. It was as if no words were needed between them, at least not at that moment. Soon, though, Delilah would have to gather her courage and tell Tess everything. Delilah reached for Frank’s hand, which moved to the back of her neck. Having his hand there, havinghimthere, there for her, felt incredible.
At Tess’s direction, Delilah and Frank took a seat on the sofa.
“Beer of coffee?” Damien asked from the kitchen.
“Water,” Delilah said.
“Interesting choice,” Damien said.
“Is he testing me?” Delilah asked Frank.
“It’s fine, Del.” Frank had schooled his emotions again.
“I’m glad you two returned,” Damien said as he appeared with a tray of beverages.
“You doubted me?” Frank asked.
A chill went through Delilah. Frank wasn’t ready for this discussion. She put her hand on his knees, and his hand covered hers.
“I didn’t kill the warden in cold blood,” Delilah said, raising her eyes to Damien and Tess together. “It’s a long story.” Her voice was shaking, and she wasn’t sure she could go over this right now. “Can we discuss it tomorrow?”
“Certainly,” Tess said with her usual smile.
“Self-defense, Damien,” Frank added as he glared at his alpha.
Damien pulled Tess into his lap. “I’m glad to hear that.”
“Then you won’t hand me over?” Delilah asked. She might actually have a chance at a life here, with Frank and Tess.
“Of course, he won’t hand you over, Lily,” Tess said.
“I can’t promise that,” Damien said.

FRANK
Tess turned to Damien, stunned, just as Delilah sucked in air. Frank didn’t say a word, though he was as shocked as Tess. This wasn’t the Damien he’d known his entire life.
“This isn’t just my decision, Tess. Our actions affect three packs. Liam and Drake have a say in what happens. If I make a unilateral decision of this nature and it destroys any chance of a treaty, where does that leave us? All of us?”
