She turned into him and captured his mouth. Before he knew it, he was lost in a long, sensuous kiss that left his heart racing and his entire body floating. He drew her into his arms, and together they fell back onto the bed. When the kiss ended, he was on his elbows, leaning over her, smoothing her hair back. He couldn’t believe how lucky he was to have her. It took all his focus to keep from asking her to blood-bond him again because he knew she would say ‘yes’, even though she wasn’t ready.
She bolted upright, her face going blank long enough he worried that he’d hurt her.
“That’s it. I think I know what to do about the virus!” Anna jumped up, kissed Blade and searched for her clothes. She threw her bra and dress on and raced to the door.”
“Anna?” he asked, holding up her panties.
She smiled and made a grab for them, but he pulled her in for another kiss. “I don’t know what’s going on, but don’t think you’re going to leave my bed without a kiss. Ever.”
With another smile and a kiss, she slipped her panties on and headed for the door. Blade threw on his pants and chased after her.
Within seconds, Frank was at his side. “What did you do now, lover boy?”
“Nothing. And what’s with the eavesdropping?”
“Orders.”
“You said that already. In the future, drop out of hearing range. You’re killing my love life.”
Frank chuckled. “Hey, this is new for me too. Don’t particularly want to listen to you getting off. Still trying to figure out what she sees in you.”
“Go get the others. I’m not sure what she’s up to, but she mumbled something about the virus before she ran out.”
“Ok,babe,” Frank said, grinning.
“Fuck you.”

ANNA
“I’m sorry that I woke you two,” Anna said, blushing. “I’m just so excited.”
Franked elbowed Blade. “Shouldn’t that be your line? Then again, maybe not. She was louder.”
“You’re worse than Hayden.”
“Who’s worse than me,” Hayden asked as he entered Damien and Tess’s house. “And why does everyone here smell of sex except Frank?”
“I was on guard duty.”
“Down at the love shack. Right.”
“Hey!” Anna said, turning redder. “Is nothing private here?”
The men smirked or averted their eyes. Only Tess had the guts to speak up. “Sorry, Anna. Shifter country.”
“What’s this all about?” Damien finally asked, putting Anna out of her misery, or perhaps he simply wanted to get back to whatever he and Tess had been up to when Anna had banged on their front door.
“It’s something Tess said to me a few days ago. About your blood-bonding and how your abilities weren’t affected. Our understanding of the virus is wrong. The virus didn’t destroy your DNA, Tess. If it had, then Damien would have been weakened after your blood-bond. It’s the only thing that makes sense. I suspect the virus destroyed your ability toactivatethe proper DNA needed to shift.”
“Simple terms, Angel. Frank can’t handle complicated science.”
“Oh, like you can?” Frank shot back.
“Don’t need to. I got a genetic engineer in my bed.”
“Not for much longer if you keep talking like that,” Frank said, pointing to Anna and how red she was turning.
