Gage just shook his head.“You really don’t see why?”When she shook her head he sighed, “Men like him attract women.I think it’s something in their blood.Anyway, I was only jealous for about a minute till I saw you two interacting with each other.Yes, he cares about you, but in the same way that I care about Krista or Alora.Like a big brother.”

“That’s what he is.Carlos is like my brother, just like...Jerry was.Gage, you have no reason to be jealous of any man.I want you.I chose you.”She said, taking his hand in hers.

“And I want you.And I chose you.”He reciprocated.

“Unless Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Undertaker suddenly become available and come knocking. Then sorry honey, but you’re out in the cold.”she added saucily.

“Is that so?”he asked, lifting a brow.

Stacey barely had time to blink before Gage had her thrown over his shoulder. With her laugh echoing in his ears, he entered the bedroom, kicking the door closed behind him.Looks like they both were going to be a little late for work. But it was so going to be worth it.

Chapter 7

––––––––

Stacey sat in one ofthe chairs waiting for Jimmy and Cain.As she promised Gage and Tony, she had come straight here after calling the publishing house and told them she would be a little late.Of course, the head of the Austin branch was aware of the situation, well part of it anyway, and said for her to take her time in meeting with the feds. She looked up when the door opened and in walked the duo.

“Hello again Stacey.Hope we didn’t keep you waiting.”Jimmy greeted.

“It’s good to see you guys again.”Stacey smiled as she stood and shook their hands.

Jimmy and Cain gestured for her to follow them. The trio moved down the hall and then walked into a conference room. They sat down and Cain started things off.“We spoke to our fellow agents in New York, and they got us caught up on their end of things, as well as sending us copies of their findings. We also looked over what Tony sent us from the stuff he collected last night after you received the email.”

“And?What do you all think?”Stacey inquired.

“We think you’re right and that this person is possibly someone that you know or knew.”Jimmy said.

“Or at least thinks they know you.”Cain added.

Stacey sighed, “I figured that. The big question is, why use the publishing house to reach out to me?”

“Stacey, you’re an editor for a rising publishing house. Can you think of a better way, or an easier way, to make that first contact than to pose as a potential writer?”Cain pointed out.

“I guess I see your point there. So, what do I need to do?I know Gage was going to talk to Ethan this morning, but he thinks Ethan may tell him that Blackout won’t get involved.”Stacey questioned.

“And I believe that Gage would be right.Since this guy hasn’t made physical contact other than in New York by having those flowers sent and now attacking Walt, I doubt Ethan will want to get involved. As for what you do, just wait, I’m afraid. If he’s now discovered you’re here in Austin, it’s hard to say what he will do.”Jimmy replied.
