Moira burst out laughing and Cord soon followed. After they finished eating, Moira helped him wash the few dishes before they headed upstairs to grab a small nap. Stripping down to their skin, he set the alarm on his phone before climbing in first and pulled Moira into his arms, making her sigh in contentment. He loved how well she fit into his arms, hell into his life. In minutes he saw that she was sound asleep. Laying a gentle kiss against her lips and tucking her more securely in his arms, he followed her into sleep.

Moira

Moira sat at the bar and watched as Cord and Collen moved all around with the stage crew of the band making sure everything was ready to go. The concert would start at seven and the crowd would be let in starting at six. When she and Cord arrived at the bar an hour ago, already the line was forming. She figured that, by now, the line was halfway around the block with only twenty minutes before the doors opened.

“So, you’re the one who has Mr. O’Brien walking on cloud nine lately.” A female voice said, pulling Moira from her thoughts.

“Huh? Oh, I…I guess.” Moira stuttered.

The woman was petite, her black and purple hair done in a pixie cut. The woman was beautiful, Moira couldn’t deny that. She wore a black tank top that showed off both her arms which were sleeved in artistic tattoos. Her look was completed with black ripped jeans and boots. As Moira looked over the woman, she felt the woman looking over her as well. The woman then smiled.

“I’m Kat, the head bartender here.” Kat stated, extending her hand.

“Moira Donovan.” Moria smiled, shaking Kat’s hand.

“The author?” Kat gaped. Moira nodded. “Wow! Do you think you could sign my book? I mean if it’s not…”

“I’d love to.” Moira beamed.

Kat spun on her heel and darted off. She returned a few moments later with a bag from Barnes & Noble. Kat withdrew the latest book Moira had out. Moira took the book and pen from Kat and instantly signed her book. “Oh, thank you. I started reading your stuff my last year of college. Course that was about four years ago. I have to say this, when Mr. O’Brien came back from his trip, he looked so happy. Collen told me that he met someone when I asked what brought on the change.”

“I’m glad I make him happy.” Moira said.

“You do Ms. Donovan.”

“Please call me Moira.”

“Moira then. Well, I gotta go get ready. Thanks again for the book. And one more thing, take care of Mr. O’Brien. He’s a good man and deserves someone special.” Kat added, before walking off.

Moira was stunned and touched. It seemed that Cord’s employees cared about their boss and wanted him happy. Well, if fate was on her and Cord’s side, she would do everything she could to make him happy. She turned and found Cord walking her direction. She met him halfway across the room and was instantly pulled into his strong arms and his lips finding hers, making her head all fuzzy.

“That was nice.” She giggled.

“It was. I saw you talking to Kat.” He said, leading her to a nearby bar stool.

“Aye, I was. At first, I thought she was going to be a problem.” She nodded.

Cord started laughing, “Oh don’t get me wrong, she can be a ball buster, but underneath it all she’s a great girl. I met her right after she graduated college. Kat is a smart girl and has plans beyond being a bartender. She has a degree in business management. In fact, Collen and I are thinking of making her the new manager here.”

Moira felt her eyes widen. “Really?”

“Yep. See, our current manager Larry is leaving next summer. He and his wife are moving to Albany to be closer to her dad. She’s a nurse and her dad isn’t doing good health wise. They are only waiting another year since their oldest is in eighth grade. They don’t want to uproot him in the middle of the school year and figured starting over right before he starts high school was a better option.” Cord explained.

“Makes sense. Starting over as a freshman at a new school anyway is a bit less shocking.” Moira nodded.

“Anyway, Kat knows how this place runs. If she agrees, we’ll have her and Larry start working together right away. That way the transition for her and the rest of the staff will be smooth.”

“She seemed pretty protective of you.”

Cord chuckled, “And me and Collen are protective of her. She’s like a little sister for us. Was she rude?”

Moira smiled, “No, no. She just said since you came back you looked happier and that she was glad I made you happy.”

Moira gave a squeak of surprise when Cord pulled her off her stool and onto his lap. Before she could speak, his lips found hers. Moira sighed and melted into his arms, giving in to his kiss. She felt lightheaded when he finally released her. Slowly, her eyes opened and met his. There was so much love and lust burning in his hazel eyes, it stole her breath and made her heart pound. She licked her lips but couldn’t seem to speak.

“Moira, you do make me happy. The happiest I’ve been in…hell I can’t remember when I’ve ever been this happy.”

“Oh Cord. I could say the same. I’m so glad we met. I love you.”
