“I figured you got held up baby.” Sally smiled.

“Mom, you’re not going to believe what just happened.” Cord replied and proceeded to tell her the good news.

Moira

Moira and Roxi were having lunch at their favorite bistro in Georgetown. “So, how’s things going at work?” Moira asked.

“Things are going good. I’ll be heading off to Cleveland next week to cover the campaign.” Roxi answered.

Moira and Roxi had grown up in DC and from the age of twelve, Roxi had been interested in politics. She was now a political analyst for the Republican party. This election season she was assigned to a Republican Senator from Ohio. Unlike Roxi, Moira wasn’t too interested in politics. Yet despite that, she and Roxi still had lots in common and still had a blast together. When Roxi had been hired just before they graduated college, Moira had been thrilled for her.

“That’s great. Be sure you bring me back a neat souvenir.” Moira teased.

“Don’t I always.” Roxi winked. “How’s the editing going?”

“It’s going good. I’m about halfway through the first round. Holly says at this rate, the books should be released about the second week of September. The publishing house is already working on the promotions and stuff.”

“That’s awesome girl. I can’t wait to read it. It will give me something to take my mind off politics for a bit.”

Moira laughed. While Roxi might sometimes complain about politics, the woman lived for the rush of it. “I’ll be sure to get you a copy.”

“Have you heard from Cord since last week?” Roxi questioned, changing gears.

“Actually, I have.” Moira nodded, trying to hide the blush as she recalled the phone sex session, they had the night she met his mom and brother. But failed.

“You’re blushing.”

“Shut up, no I’m not.”

“Okay, now you have to tell me. What happened, did you two have a phone sex session…” Roxi paused when Moira’s blush deepened. “Oh my god! You did!”

As Roxi laughed, Moira covered her face with her hands. “Bloody hell, this is embarrassing.”

“Why? Hell Moira, you write stuff like this in your books.”

“Yes, I write it, but I’ve never actually done it.” Moira argued.

“So now you have. It’s not that big of a deal really.” Roxi replied.

“Wait, you mean you’ve done that before?” Moira inquired.

“A few times yeah. It’s kind of fun actually. Only having your partners voice and your imagination. It can be a nice form of foreplay.” Roxi nodded, reaching for her tea.

“That’s kinda what Cord said too afterward. I will admit, it was hot as hell.” Moira admitted.

“I will say this, since you told me about Cord, you just seem and sound happier.”

“I am Roxi. After what happened with Phillip, Cord is…God I don’t know. He’s the complete opposite. I’ve never dated anyone like him. It’s like we just know each other.”

Roxi cupped her chin, “And that is what it’s all about. When I finally meet him, I’m warning you now, I’m giving him a big hug and a kiss for making my best friend happy.”

Moira laughed, “Since you warned me, I’ll allow it.”

“Good.” Roxi nodded firmly.

Cord

Cord flopped on his sofa. He was tired, but happy. After telling his mom at lunch about the good news from Collen she had been beyond thrilled for her sons. Collen had set up things for Five Finger Death Punch and the date was set for the third Friday in June. Cord still couldn’t wrap his mind around this. True, O’Brien’s Tap had been doing well the last ten years, but the information he received today was beyond anything he could imagine. After lunch with his mom, Cord had gone to see Al. With the information about the private gig in June, Al had re-crunched his numbers and they were even better than before. Cord groaned when he heard his phone ring.
