“I can see that. I’ve been to New York a few times and I enjoy it. I went to NYU myself.”

Their conversation paused when the waiter returned with their drinks. As she sipped her beer, Cord watched the low lighting filter over her features. Her face seemed to light up when she spoke. He wanted to learn more about this enigmatic woman across from him. “Your accent, I’m trying to place it.”

“Irish. My parents were born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland. They came to America during all that mess with the UFV and the Provisional IRA. My Da is a Garda…I mean a cop for DC Metro and my mum is a nurse at George Washington University hospital. Me brother Sean, he’s a Marine. He got out after serving eight years. He and his wife, Laura and their two kids live in Norfolk, Virginia.” Moira explained.

In turn, Cord talked about his family. He explained how he and his brother came to be business partners. She laughed when he told her about him and Collen growing up in North Carolina. She got a soft look in her eyes when he talked about his parents and how even after all this time they acted like newlyweds. When their food arrived, their conversation continued. Cord couldn’t remember the last time, if ever, he had enjoyed a woman’s company like this.

Chapter 3

Moria

Moria sighed as she and Cord slipped into the chairs at their table. After an entertaining and delicious dinner, Cord had brought her to the club they currently sat at. It was crowded but not overbearing. She looked over at Cord and smiled brightly. For the last three hours he had intrigued her more and more. Of course, two beers at the restaurant and two more here didn’t hurt. He was smart, funny, and hot as hell. A girl couldn’t ask for a better companion for the night.

“You’re a pretty good dancer.” He said, before lifting his beer to his lips.

“You’re not so bad yourself Cord.” She winked, taking a sip of her own beer.

Cord reached over and took her hand, sending shivers shooting through Moira, making her gasp slightly. Her blue eyes locked with his. She could tell he felt the same electricity that she was feeling. His lips curled in a smile as his thumb began rubbing lazy patterns across the back of her hand. Moira let out a shuddered breath, then licked her lips. What was this man doing to her? She opened her mouth to speak, but no words formed. With that hot smile still on his face, Cord pulled her back to her feet and led her to the dance floor as a sultry song began playing. When he pulled her flush against him, she bit back a whimper. The hard planes of his body pressed against her, lighting her Irish blood on fire. As he led them in their sultry dance, her mind went into overdrive.

She could almost picture how they would look together. Him strong and large over her, her body under him, writhing for his touch. Would he be a good lover? Her eyes meeting his again, answered her internal question. Oh yeah, he would be an exceptional lover. Cord pulled her tighter against him and she felt him. Hard and throbbing against her. She felt her panties grow wet at the contact. He leaned down and nuzzled her neck. This time Moira couldn’t stop the moan that escaped her.

“You smell delicious Moira.”

“Cord.”

He lay a soft kiss against the pulse of her neck and she felt her knees start to buckle. His strong arms bore her weight and kept her upright and pressed against him. Moira lifted her head and had all of three seconds to register what he had planned before his lips took hers. His kiss was enthralling. Overwhelming her senses. Slowly her arms came up and around him, her fingers sinking into his hair as she kissed him back, adding her own heat to the mix. She felt him growl into the kiss when she rolled her hips into him, feeling him more against her.

She had never been this way before; let alone with a man she had only met three hours ago. Yet the way he held her and kissed left her wanting more.

Cord

Cord was on fire as he continued kissing Moira. From the moment he saw her that afternoon she had called to him. Like a Siren of myth. Now that she was in his arms he just wanted more. He pulled away from her lips allowing them both to gasp in air. The song had changed but he kept them moving to their own song. Lust was a living breathing thing between them. Clawing viciously under his skin. He wanted this woman.

“If I’m being too forward say so, but fuck Moira, I want you.” Cord hissed in her ear.

“Aye Cord, I want you too.” Moira moaned back, her body undulating against his.

“As much as I want to take you to my place right now, I’m not sure we should. Hell, we barely know each other.” He sighed.

He saw the lustful look in her eyes as she nodded, “You’re right. Though I’m sure we both wouldn’t regret it if we did.”

Cord chuckled, “I wouldn’t.” He gently pulled away from her arms and led them from the floor. He saw her confused look as he led them toward the door. “Tell you what, I’ll give you my number. And say tomorrow evening, you call me, and we’ll make plans.”

“Plans?” Moira questioned, tilting her head as she pulled out her phone.

“Yes plans. While I want to take you to my bed immediately, I’m not one of those men who has a string of one-night stands.”

“Ah, now I understand. Alright, I’ll give you my number but only if you give me yours.”

Smiling, Cord nodded and handed her his phone. There in the glow of the streetlights they exchanged numbers. After she handed his phone back, he hailed her a taxi.

“Moira, text me when you get back to your condo. I had fun tonight.” Cord said, opening the door.

“As did I. Thank you for an amazing first night.” Moira beamed before kissing him softly.

Once she was in the taxi he waved as the car pulled away. Cord let out a long breath and turned to hail his own taxi. Fifteen minutes later, he was just walking into his condo when his phone dinged.

Made it back safe and sound.
