She felt Julio’s warm, manly lips curl into a smile against her mouth. Finally! She’d made him smile, and just knowing he’d let her into his heart, sent another heated jolt to her core. Her back arched into him for more, and how on earth did that work? Was pleasing him the key? Was comforting him? Meg intended to find out.

After a few more licks, growls, and nibbles, she pulled back from his strong, domineering mouth and murmured, “Did you hear me? I have another room, Agent Juarez, and it’s private, and…” A growl burst out of her heart. “I can’t wait to get you naked in that bed!”

A truly radiant grin broke over her. Like a sunrise, it bathed everything.

“So,” he breathed into her mouth. “Does that mean the island’s out?”

“Ooo,” she groaned. A deserted island would certainly be romantic, but her mind was already lost in an ocean of sensation. The heated caress of his breath over her face. His freshly showered, masculine scent in her nose. His large, capable, work-roughened hands mapping her shoulder blades, neck, and the back of her head, all while making sure her bandana stayed put. His sweet, kindly heart beating through his entire body. Every last part of Julio had combined to turn her legs to jelly and her brain to mush. It was too hard to think, much less form a coherent answer. What was the question?

Meg groaned again, as suddenly, her backside was off the bed and she found herself up in Julio’s arms, against that magnificent chest. Right over his heart.

“Where to?” he asked, his voice gone husky and gravelly deep.

“Turn left once we hit the hall, then down the first set of stairs, through two bulkheads, down another flight of stairs, through one more hatch, then back up a flight. But be quiet.”

He grinned down at her. “Can you walk?”

“Of course! Put me down.” Heaven knew she couldn’t be seen being carried. She’d never live that down, especially if Charlie spotted her. But when Julio let her slide down his delectable body… When Meg inhaled whatever shower gel he’d showered with… Her legs melted.

If not for Julio’s cat-like reflexes, she would’ve been on her knees. Which may not have been such a bad idea, now that she thought about it. That would’ve put her face at his zipper level. But no, no, no. Not here and not with Dom sleeping nearby. No. Just no. She might be a titch overheated, but she was not that kind of mother.

“Where are we going?” Julio reminded her, his eyes gleaming.

Oh yeah. That. She cast one last look back at her boy. “First, I’m going to page Marta and Craig to come take Dom. That will make them happy. They already wanted to keep him with the other kids tonight.”

“For the rest of the night,” Julio corrected.

Meg grinned up at him. “You are so on!”
