Christian nodded. He understood how protective Roberto was, because after just meeting her, he felt murderous at the thought of another man touching her or her in pain.
“Roberto, I can promise you, I will never hurt that woman. I’m actually going to do what I can to make her life easier.”
Roberto placed both of his beefy hands on the bar and leaned toward Christian with a confused look in his eyes. “Why would you do that?”
Christian took a quick moment to put his feelings for her into words, and couldn’t come up with one strong enough at thatmoment.
“Because I like her,” Christian said simply.

Roberto studied his boss for a long time and then nodded. The emotions he caught in Christian’s gaze made his body relax. Harmony had a way of attracting people of all kinds, so he wasn’t surprised that Christian wanted her, but the strength of Christian’s emotions took Roberto a bit off guard. He liked the thought of the two together. Christian was a person who usually got what he wanted and would be able to take care of her in a way Roberto couldn’t. As long as he’d known Christian, if the man was determined about something, he got it. Christian didn’t know what it meant to back down or give up.
“I’ll send her back in a few minutes.”
“Thank you. Don’t worry. I just need to take care of her.”
“I hope so. I would hate to have to quit the job, but I would if you hurt her in any way.”
Christian grasped Roberto’s arm. “Well, it won’t happen.”
Chapter Two
Harmony nervously clutched her hands together as she made her way down the hallway toward the dressing rooms and office. Roberto said the boss wanted to talk to her. He said she wasn’t in trouble and everything was okay, but he had a few questions. She’d never met the owner, had never even heard his name, so she was a little anxious about what he wanted to talk to her about.
Harmony knew Roberto had been trying to reassure her, but she caught the worry in his eyes, even when he tried to hide it.
She knocked and then waited for the signal to come in. She drew in a breath and opened the door. The room itself wasn’t very big. There was a large desk and a chair on the far side of the room. On the wall next to the door were filing cabinets, and the other held a long sofa.
The only light illuminating the room was a small lamp on the desk. She let her eyes become accustomed to the dim room as she waited for the person in the chair to turn around.
A gasp sprang from her mouth when the chair turned, and Mr. Sharp sat staring at her. She frowned in confusion. “What are you doing here? I’m supposed to talk to my boss.”
“Shut the door.”
Harmony swallowed, turned, and shut the door, closing them in the office. Normally, she would have been wary of the situation, but she knew Roberto would never put her in a dangerous position.
“What’s going on?”
“Sit down,” Christian ordered.
Harmony shook her head and crossed her arms over her chest. “I’d rather not. Now, tell me who you are.”
Christian smiled. “My name is Christian Sharp, and I ownthis place.”
A hundred thoughts twisted through Harmony’s head. First and foremost was how she’d been disrespectful to her boss. She thought back to their conversations earlier and guessed a few things she’d said could come off as disrespectful, but he’d enjoyed poking at her to get a reaction.
Harmony narrowed her eyes. “I’ve never heard anyone say your name, and I haven’t seen you here before.”
“That’s because I have several other businesses to deal with. I let Roberto deal with the day-to-day of this place. I hire good people to run my businesses, so I don’t have to micromanage them.”
Harmony thought about that for a moment. “Why am I here?”
“Knowing I’m your boss, would you reconsider that lap dance?” He didn’t know why he was pushing her. It was partly to see if she would change, knowing he had money like so many women did, and he had to admit he enjoyed the spark of fire in her eyes when he teased her.
Harmony’s back stiffened. “No,” she said and lifted her chin.
Christian bit back a grin. “Would you for two thousand?”
