They pulled into the driveway.

She opened her car door not waiting for Nico to open it, and then stood aside as one of the men unlocked the front door for her. Both men watched as she walked away.

“I’m going to lay down for a bit,” she said.

They glanced at each other. Nico shook his head.

“Why don’t you lock up while I text Christian? He’s going to want to know about this.”

A few hours later, Connor knocked on her door.

“Hey, sweets, lunch is here. We thought you’d like Chinese.”

Harmony glanced at the door as she lay on the bed. “Go ahead. I’m not hungry.”

“When’s the last time you ate?”

Harmony wiped her eyes with the tissue she had grippedin her fist. “I’m not sure. Just please eat. I just want to rest.”

Connor was tempted to open the door so he could see her, but didn’t want to upset her any more than she already was.

“Okay. Call if you need us.” He waited for a moment and then walked back to the kitchen to see Nico pulling all the Chinese cartons out of the sack that was delivered.

Nico looked up and then behind Connor.

“Where is she?”

“She told me she’s not hungry.”

“Goddammit,” Nico scowled. “What the hell is going on with her?”

Connor shrugged and then started opening up the little white cartons.

“Maybe Christian knows. Has he called back yet?”

Nico shook his head.

“No, not yet,” Nico answered, sounding preoccupied.

“Stop worrying, we’ll get it all figured out.”

“I hope you’re right,” Nico grumbled.

Nico turned down the game he and Connor were watching when his phone rang. He stood and walked off when he saw it was Christian.

“Hey, Boss. Did you have any problems getting there?”

Christian sighed and rubbed the back of his neck as he stood in his nephew’s bedroom, where he would sleep in one of the twin beds.

“No, it was just a long flight to go somewhere I don’t want to be and away from Harmony.”

“There’s something going on with her.”

Christian paused. “What?”

“She was gone when we got here.”
