“And one of us can always keep your mouth busy if you need it,” Chase added, and all she could do was roll her eyes and relax back into his arms.

She didn’t have the energy to pretend she didn’t like that idea, because she did. In fact, she really liked the idea of getting away with naughty things with her men while she struggled to stay quiet.

Even if it was under her parents’ roof.

CHAPTER 5

JAXSON

Monday, December 27th

The Fischer House

Fond du Lac, Wisconsin

“Who’s a big boy? Huh?” Linda cooed as Andrew squirmed on her hip, pointing out the window again.

“Snow! Please we go outside? I want snow!”

“In just a minute,” Linda answered, showcasing all of the patience Emma’s mom always had as she bounced Andrew. Jaxson muttered to himself as he tossed another pillow off the couch trying to find his son’s coat. “Did you guys find it yet?”

“Not yet,” Chase replied as he walked through the living room, carrying a wad of blankets over his arm.

“Emma? Did you find Drew’s coat?” Robert, her dad, called out, doing his best to calm Alicia down even though she was already sprawled out on the kitchen floor, screaming.

Happy fucking holidays.

Clenching his jaw, Jaxson gathered the pillows and threw them back onto the couch to continue searching the living room. Andrew was starting to pout and sniffle, which meant he was warming up to join his twin sister in a tantrum any minute now, and Jax was tempted to walk out into the snow himself just to escape the noise.

“Where did Emma go?” Robert asked.

“I’m not sure, honey. She’s looking for—”

“Emma!” Jaxson called across the house, not realizing until he’d already shouted that he’d definitely used his Dom voice, and probably sounded like a complete asshole in front of her parents. Fortunately — or possibly unfortunately — Emma immediately responded to him.

“I’m coming, I’m coming!” she shouted back, and he couldn’t help but groan to himself that he’d much rather be hearing those words under different circumstances. “I found his coat!”

“Thank God,” Linda replied, setting Andrew down by the couch so she and Emma could work together to get him bundled up even though he was fighting them in a full-blown fit.

“You found it?” Chase walked back into the living room, now carrying one of the diaper bags over his shoulder in addition to the pile of blankets.

“Yep. Emma found it… somewhere.” Jaxson collapsed into a recliner as he looked over his husband and wife. It had only been five days since they’d arrived in Wisconsin, but it was difficult to remember their recent hot, carefree evening at Black Light while Chase was carrying baby blankets and Emma was wrangling one of their two screaming three-year-olds.

Had he just dreamed that kid-free night? Some kind of exhaustion-induced hallucination?

Groaning, he rubbed at his face, but quickly slapped on a smile when he heard Linda say his name. “What? Sorry, I was distracted.”

“Oh, honey, it’s okay.” Emma’s mom was using the exact same voice she’d been using on Andrew during his tantrum. “Why don’t you stay in here and we’ll take the twins out to enjoy the snow?”

“Let all three of them take a break,” Robert suggested, scooping Alicia off the floor. “I can pull these two around on the sled without any help.”

“Yay! Sled!” Alicia cheered, already happy again and hugging her grandpa around the neck with expert-level manipulation.

“Great idea,” Linda said, popping Andrew back onto her hip. “You guys take a break.”

“But I was going to take pictures,” Emma argued as her mom waved a hand at her.

“We may not be as up on all the techno-gadgets as you, but I know how to take pictures with my phone!” Laughing to herself, Linda leaned over and squeezed Emma in a quick side hug before she gestured at the living room on her way to the back door. “This is what grandparents are for, sweetheart. Sit down for a few minutes and enjoy the quiet. You can come join us in a little while.”
