Twelve
Killian
SOMEHOW, I WOKE up the morning after my epic birthday party without a hangover, but as the rest of the guys stumbled into my suite around noon, I realized that couldn’t be said for anyone else.
“Need some coffee?” My lips quirked as each of them collapsed into a chair, couch, or, as Slade seemed to prefer, the floor. “I’ve got a pot ready—”
“Just one?” Jagger said, not even bothering to open his eyes. Even feeling like shit, he wore an immaculate fitted suit and diamond studs in his ears, putting all of us to shame.
“Hey, asshole, this isn’t room service,” I said, pouring some of the hot brew into mugs. From the look of things, if I didn’t want to powwow with a half-dead band, I’d need to start another pot, stat. I passed steaming mugs to each of the guys and then tossed a bunch of creamer, sugar packets, and straws on the coffee table.
Slade lifted his head off the floor, one eye barely opening. “How the hell are you functioning? I saw you do all those shots.”
I shrugged. “Maybe I know how to handle my liquor.”
“Bullshit,” Viper said with a groan. “It was all those fruity purple bastards Halo made us shoot.”
Halo’s mouth fell open. “Don’t put this on me. I didn’t force those shots down your throat.”
Viper cocked his head toward his boyfriend. “No, you forced something else down my throat…”
As Halo flushed, I poured the rest of the coffee into my mug and then rinsed the pot out so I could get another round started. If the guys were feeling this bad, I couldn’t imagine the state of Levi once he arrived.
As a matter of fact… I glanced at the clock, frowning. Levi was never late, but he’d been unsteady on his feet not long after arriving at the party last night, so maybe I needed to go check on him. Hell, a drunk Levi was the only reason I hadn’t pushed things further; I hadn’t wanted to take advantage and wanted him to have a clear head so there would be no regrets.
Once I added some fresh grounds to the machine and hit start, I shoved my key card in my pocket so I could go check on Levi—I knew none of these fuckers would get up to let us back in—but a knock on the door sounded before I could leave.
I opened the door to see Levi standing there, not a trace of a hangover on his handsome face, though he didn’t look quite like himself somehow. Maybe it was the plain navy shirt and dark jeans that were throwing me off, or maybe it was the hat he wore, or hell, maybe both. A casual Levi was a shock to the system, but hey, maybe it was laundry day. He was still fucking gorgeous. I wondered if he remembered what he’d said to me last night.
It’s always for you. Always…
“Killian…hi.” A nervous smile crossed Levi’s lips.
Nervous? Yeah, he definitely remembered, but I didn’t see any regret in his eyes, which I took as a positive sign.
Leaning against the doorjamb, I ran my eyes up and down his body before letting my gaze linger at his hips. “I was just coming to see if you needed any help getting…up.” I reached out, curling my finger around one of his belt loops, and tugged him forward. “So…is this still all for me?”
“Uh…”
“No need to be shy.” As I leaned in to graze my lips against his jaw, I felt his body go rigid, and then an all-too-familiar voice down the hall said, “What the fuck are you doing to my brother?”
Huh?
I jerked my head to the left, where Levi stood with sunglasses on and his mouth open in disbelief, and then looked back to the man I had a hold of.
What the fuck? Now I’m seeing two of him? Maybe I’m still drunk after all…
“Killian,” the Levi to my left said, as he started down the hall, his jaw clenched. “Let Liam go.”
Liam? Who the hell is Liam? Dropping my hands like I’d been burned, I stared at the man in front of me. His eyes were wide, and he swallowed hard, tightly grasping the papers in his hands.
“What the hell is going on?” I said.
Levi stepped up beside me and shoved his glasses up onto his head. “As far as I can tell, you were about to make out with my brother. You make it a habit to kiss every person who knocks on your hotel door?”
Caught off guard, I tried to make sense of the information Levi was firing my way, and as pieces of it began to fit together, I tore my eyes from his fuming face and looked back to Liam looking completely and utterly bewildered.
“I…I’m…” I started to make some lame attempt of an apology, but as the words got stuck on my tongue and the word brother began a loop in my head, I spun back to Levi. “This is your brother?”
