“Don’t drink it until you’re comfortable. It’ll knock you right out,” she warned, raising a gnarled finger without a fingernail.

She waited as we all climbed into my bed. My kings distributed pillows and shoved around blankets so they could each touch a bit of me as we slept.

I looked over at the undead woman. Though she looked frightful and scared half my guards to death, she had a good soul. “Thank you so much, Lizza. We desperately need this.”

“Oh, I know,” she laughed, and her damaged vocal cords turned that laugh into a haunting wheeze. “Don’t worry. I’m here to take care of you all. I’m already brewing up a fertility potion for next week.”

She said that last bit as most of my kings downed their potions. But every eye turned to stare at her.

She gave a shrug. “What? You need heirs.”

Her announcement was like a lightning bolt. Shocking. Beautiful. A little scary.

My eyes traveled to my husbands. We’d joked about this. But were they ready for that? We’d hardly been married—

Quinn spoke out loud, startling everyone when he said, “Dibs.”

Connor gave a yawning protest as he snuggled into my back. “No way, I call dibs.”

“Nope,” said Blue. “I’ve gotten the least opportunities, so out of fairness, I get to go first. And maybe second, too.”

Declan turned to Ryan and said, “Halvsies?”

Ryan nodded to Declan as he tilted a vial to my lips. “Drink, Bloss.”

And I did. As I drifted off to sleep, I couldn’t help but be excited for everything that was to come.

Because my kings and I had proven we could take on the world.

And win.
