I turned to my knights with a smile, happy to be home.
But my eyes caught the messenger’s gaze. And something in their liquid grey depths called to me.
I cried out as memories poured back into my head, like they’d been bottled up and suspended just outside my body.
A cat and a bobcat streaking through the woods, a heated kiss under the portcullis, teasing thoughts, hands, lips. Wishes and nightmares.
“Quinn!”
I ran toward him, tears streaking down my cheeks as I yanked him hard into a hug.
And as his arms wrapped around my waist, my silent knight spoke the first words I’d ever heard from him. “I love you, Dove.”
