She shakes her head, rubbing her hand over her stomach. “No, it’s our baby.”

My heart swells, falling even more in love with this woman than I thought possible.

A soft knock prevents me from replying, and I smile up at my aunt Lina. She comes in, kisses me on the cheek, and then faces Kinsey with a bright grin.

“Hi, honey. My name is Lina. Brooks has been gushing about this woman he’s been courting for weeks now. I’m so honored to meet you,” she says, holding out her hand. Kinsey blushes, shaking her hand and then wrapping her arms around herself.

I clear my throat. “We came for a more professional reason, not to meet the family. Plus, Mom will kill me if you tease you got to meet Kinsey first.”

Lina frowns, walking over to the counter and grabbing the clipboard with some paperwork the front desk had Kinsey fill out. “Of course. What brings you in today? And if at any timeyou wish to discuss things in private, I’m more than happy to kick out my nephew. Just give me the word.”

Kinsey smiles at her and winks at me. “He’s good here as long as he doesn’t make any more remarks.”

I slide my pinched fingers across my lips and flick my wrist to throw away the keys. She giggles while my aunt rolls her eyes. Then she reads over the clipboard in more depth before facing Kinsey fully.

“So your heat came on two months early? And you’re worried your birth control failed too?”

Kinsey nods, playing with the tips of her hair. “Is that a possibility?”

Lina purses her lips. “It can be. I’ve heard of biology overriding all types of suppressants in certain cases.”

“Like what?” I ask.

“Like scent matches, or if an omega has never had an unassisted heat. There are a lot of studies currently being tested that don’t agree with the wayacademies and the FOA medically suppress heats and long-term effects.”

Kinsey and I exchange a look. She’s two for two. Lina catches it and swirls the pen in her hand. “We can schedule a test in a week and an ultrasound for a few weeks after if you want to double-check. But if you were knotted multiple times during your heat, biology probably won, and you’re more than likely pregnant. Congratulations, I hope?” she says with a small laugh. “Either way, I’ll prescribe some daily vitamins, and I’m assuming you’ve stopped your suppressants?”

Kinsey nods and Lina smiles.

“Good, now I’ll brush up on some of the side effects those studies have been listing and get back to you. You may experience random bouts of heat spikes until your body naturalizes to its normal hormone level. If you’re not pregnant already, I’d suggest some condoms. I remember reading about potent fertility.”

With a blush, Kinsey mutters a thanks, and I sit there with a smug grin as Lina writes on the prescription pad. There’s no way we didn’t knock her up with the amount of times we knotted and filled her with our cum.

CHAPTER 28

KINSEY

As soon as we exit the small doctor’s building, I can feel eyes on me. Brooks slides his fingers through mine and pulls me toward the small café.

He leans down, pressing a kiss on my head. “Ignore it or they’ll know.”

With a humorless chuckle, I shake my head and then smile up at him. “Easier said than done. In the city I’m basically invisible, and now I’m not.”

His eyebrows furrow, and he gives me an incredulous look. “I very much doubt you were ever invisible, Kinsey.”

Warmth flutters into my heart, and I suppress the larger grin threatening to spread over my face. Hesqueezes my hand. Then my cheeks heat when I can feel the flicker of equal appreciation down to the bond with Dallas. He and Colt had to help unload the trucks and horses from everyone being back in town after the rodeo. Brielle had been gone when I got back to the inn to grab some new clothes, and Brooks had been more than willing to spend the day with me.

We stop short before turning the corner to the café, an angry blonde in our way.

“Imagine my surprise when I hear the whispers of you in town, but I’m not your first stop.”

I let go of Brooks to launch myself at her, hugging tightly as her arms wrap around me.

“I did go to the inn first. You weren’t there,” I say into her hair.

Her shoulders slump. “Sorry. Maverick took me to breakfast. I’ll have to ask if he knew the heat was broken because I assume the guys are back at work.”

I step back with a smile. “Apparently the rest of the cowboys are back in town from the rodeo. Iwonder if a certain someone will be coming for another kiss.”
