“A vagina doctor? Yeah, she’s near the bakery. Probably can get you seen today if you want.”
Kinsey frowns. “It might be too soon?”
Yesterday her heat broke, and she still isn’t convinced that Colt can scent the pregnancy on her.But I don’t miss the hopefulness lingering in her voice.
I shrug. “I don’t really know. We can ask her?”
She relaxes. “Please. I just want to know, so I can be careful at work as well.”
My lips thin at the mention of the bar, but it’s not like I can ask her to quit. What would she do? Wait at the house all day for us to come home? I’m just not particularly a fan of her being surrounded by alcohol and smoke until late at night while pregnant. Maybe Connie can get her a temporary job at the café instead. I perk up, determined to ask when we get there.
Kinsey parks and then faces me fully. “Whatever your scheming, stop it. I’m getting that coffee even if I have to hogtie you and throw you into the trunk.”
My mouth drops open. “I wasn’t scheming. What makes you say that?” Then I laugh as the mental image she painted registers. “I’d love to see you try to hogtie me.”
She glares, her lips twitching, and I know she’s not really mad at me.
“I was thinking about asking Connie if she had a part-time job for you at the café, so you don’t have to work late nights at the bar,” I tell her.
Kinsey frowns. “I like working at Sweet Whiskey. I like working with Brielle, and I assume you guys are going to want me to move into the pack house soon. I’ll miss her too much.”
My heart twists in sorrow and joy at the same time. I reach over, running a knuckle over her freckled cheek. “I didn’t think about that, sorry. And for the record, I’d ask you to move in right now, but we have a few more things to finish up.”
She turns to kiss my finger and sighs. “Look, I was taught a lot at the academy. Mainly to please my alphas, and they’ll take care of me. But I wasn’t raised as a pampered princess, and it’s going to take a moment to adjust to it. Now that I know what it feels like, I’d like to keep working though.”
I nod. “I understand, but maybe this is a discussion for all of us, especially if you are pregnant. Colt won’t like being away from you long.”
Her eyebrow raises. “You think his alpha instincts will enhance being…who he is.”
I nearly chuckle at her swallowing down the term she used before and shrug. “It’s possible. The man saw you and started planning a life immediately. I’m no better. I was two seconds from jumping out of the car when he walked away that first morning.”
She smiles. “I was drawn to all of you immediately too. I guess that’s why they say you’ll know as soon as you find your scent matches. If I wasn’t on suppressants, it would have been twice as strong.”
Leaning over, I give her a chaste kiss and then climb out of her car. I pout when she climbs over before I open the door, and she laughs at me. Her hand rests on my stomach when she stands next to me.
“Remember I said it will take a bit,” she says teasingly.
I nod, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “Come on. Let’s catch the doctor and then get you your smallcoffee.”
“I’m not sure if I should be concerned or scared that we got an appointment so fast,” Kinsey says, glancing around the small room with wary eyes. “In the city, it would take weeks to be seen.”
I snicker. “It’s a small town. She knew the longer we stood out there, the more people would gossip. And…she may be my aunt.”
Kinsey gasps. “Oh, so we’re getting the special family treatment.”
With a shrug, I smile at her, relaxing into the chair in the corner. “More like she’s nosy and fit us perfectly into her schedule so she can be the first person with news.”
“Uhh, doctor-patient confidentiality,” she says with a frown.
“Oh she wouldn’t tell anyone. Just bragging rights when we eventually tell our families.”
“If I’m pregnant,” she mutters.
I laugh. “You are. Colt was way too confident.”
Kinsey worries her lip. “Do you… Do you think the guys will want to know who the dad is if I am?”
Sitting up straighter, I stare at her in earnest. “Depends. Do you want to know?”
